About this role

At Bristol Myers Squibb, our employees often ask, “Who are you working for?”—a question that fuels collaboration, accountability, and urgency in our work. Our purpose-driven culture inspires us to discover, develop, and deliver innovative medicines to prevail over serious diseases. We offer uniquely interesting and meaningful work, opportunities for growth, and a supportive environment that values inclusion, wellbeing, flexibility, and comprehensive benefits. This is work that transforms the lives of patients, and the careers of those who do it.

The Cell Therapy Thematic Research Center is one of BMS’s differentiated research platforms delivering innovative therapies to patients. Our mission is to drive leadership in the use of cellular therapies to harness the power of the immune system in treating hematologic malignancies, solid cancers, and autoimmune disease. More specifically, our discovery and translational scientists are focused on developing next-generation, engineered cell-based therapies. The team is committed to discovering and developing transformative therapies that harness the power of the immune system to improve patient outcomes.

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically driven Scientist, Non-Viral Delivery Process Sciences to join BMS’s Non-Viral Delivery team and help advance the next frontier in targeted delivery. This role brings together mechanistic process science, experimental innovation, and emerging technologies to build robust, scalable manufacturing strategies for complex non-viral delivery systems. Working at the interface of process science, advanced delivery technologies, and product development, you will make foundational contributions to a rapidly evolving platform and help translate targeted LNP science into scalable process technologies. The ideal candidate thrives in a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary environment and is energized by challenging conventional approaches, accelerating platform innovation, and translating promising scientific advances into development-ready drug products.

Position Responsibilities

In the role as a Scientist, Non-Viral Delivery Process Sciences within the Non-Viral Delivery Research team, the ideal candidate will:

- Design and execute hypothesis-driven studies to deepen mechanistic process understanding and enable robust, scalable manufacturing approaches for targeted LNP platforms.
- Develop and optimize end-to-end targeted LNP processes spanning formulation, bioconjugation, purification, and downstream processing, with a focus on scalability, manufacturability, and process robustness.
- Establish mechanistic process understanding of targeting moiety conjugation and incorporation and how these processes influence product quality attributes.
- Develop and apply fit-for-purpose scale-down models to support process understanding, sensitivity analysis, and translation to larger-scale manufacturing.
- Apply design of experiments, statistical analysis, and analytical, biophysical, and functional characterization to establish process–attribute–performance relationships.
- Partner with Analytical Development to evaluate and implement process analytical technologies to strengthen real-time process understanding.
- Identify, evaluate, and implement emerging process technologies and experimental approaches that advance targeted LNP development and improve process efficiency, scalability, robustness, and manufacturability.
- Collaborate cross-functionally across Research, Process Development, Analytical Sciences, CMC, and external partners to translate early process understanding into scalable, development-ready manufacturing approaches.
- Document and communicate scientific findings through protocols, technical reports, presentations, and multidisciplinary forums.
