Overview

The Assistant Director of Housekeeping assists the Director of Housekeeping in overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of the Housekeeping department at E11EVEN Club Hotel & Residences, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, product quality, and guest service.

Responsibilities

- Ensure that all areas of the hotel are properly cleaned and ready for guests’ arrival.

- Anticipate and assess guests’ needs and respond in a courteous and professional manner.

- Interface with hotel staff and managers to receive information regarding housekeeping needs, and ensure a timely response to requests.

- Interface with Engineering to report and recommend maintenance and repair needs.

- Monitor and maintain proper inventory levels, and authorize purchase orders for supplies and equipment.

- Inspect rooms on a daily or other scheduled basis.

- Develop, implement, and maintain deep cleaning schedules.

- Control the storage of lost and found items, and ensure housekeeping carts are well maintained.

- Develop, implement, and monitor the department budget, managing expenses within approved budget constraints.

- Prepare accurate and timely reports as required, including incident and accident reports and follow-up.

- Hire, train, supervise, motivate, and develop housekeeping staff, and manage schedules and workflow.

- Assign duties and monitor the quality of work, ensuring staff conform to organizational policies, procedures, and safety regulations.

- Provide day-to-day guidance and oversight of subordinates, and actively promote and recognize performance.

- Stay up to date on the overall activities of the team, identifying problem areas and taking corrective action.

- Supervise and assist staff in housekeeping duties, including during peak periods.

- Conduct department pre-shift and monthly staff meetings.

- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in Hospitality or Business Management preferred.

- A minimum of four (4) years of experience in Housekeeping Management, preferably in a four- or five-star hotel environment.

- Understanding of housekeeping standards, operating goals and objectives, policies and procedures, organization, delegation, and follow-through.

- Ability to inspire and motivate others, build a positive team spirit, and develop housekeeping personnel’s skills with a focus on quality.

- Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work to meet deadlines, setting expectations and following delegated activities through to completion.

- Results-oriented, with concern for quality and attention to detail; manages performance to improve efficiency and control costs.

- Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner, developing alternative and innovative solutions.

- Excellent guest service skills, cross-cultural sensitivity, and clear, persuasive verbal and written communication, including group presentation skills.

- Initiative, integrity, dependability, and adaptability in dealing with changing demands.

- Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

- Fluency in English; fluency in Spanish or Creole preferred.

- Fully conversant with computerized systems; prior experience with Opera PMS, REX, and HotSOS preferred.

For Employees Based in Colorado:

- 8 paid holidays per year; employees working in the City of Denver receive 64 hours of designated holiday time per calendar year

- Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service

- 6 days or 48 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year, accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.

For Employees Based in California:

- 8 paid holidays per year

- Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service, capped at 1.5x annual accrual rate; non-supervisory employees working in the City of Los Angeles accrue up to 22 days of Compensated Time Off, based on length of service capped at 192 hours of combined PST and CTO.

- Paid Sick Time accrues at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, unused time is carried over from one anniversary year to the next up to a maximum of 80 hours; employees working in the City of Los Angeles are provided 40 hours of Paid Sick Time annually on their anniversary, unused time is not carried over from one anniversary year to the next.

For such associates, eligibility for and the terms and conditions of benefits are governed by the applicable CBA and any applicable plan documents, and may differ from the benefits described above.
