About this role
This position provides administrative and technical support and training necessary to create and maintain a safe work environment, focusing on occupational safety and health administration (OSHA) and general employee safety.
A bachelor's degree in safety management, industrial hygiene or related field or equivalent work experience. Typically, six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree. Five years (as a guideline) of experience developing and implementing occupational safety and health programs. Working knowledge of federal OSHA and state safety regulations and understanding of the compliance requirements prescribed in the regulations and ability to apply this knowledge to Kern River. Ability to prepare clear, concise and complete written reports. Ability to function independently. Broad knowledge of company functions (regulatory, financial, marketing, operations, gas control, etc.) Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills with ability to recognize, analyze and recommend alternative solutions to problems and issues. Proficient computer skills with various software applications (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint preferred) and aptitude necessary to operate software related to work requirements. Effective oral and written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently. Valid driver's license with ability to travel to remote locations, including availability to respond immediately for crisis support activities.
