The Distribution Supervisor leads the execution and continuous improvement of distribution, with responsibility for reliable product flow from warehouse to customer across domestic and international markets. This role ensures operational continuity, optimizes transportation cost and service performance, manages carrier and freight-forwarder relationships, and proactively mitigates risks that could disrupt customer supply. The Distribution Supervisor ensures products reach their destinations on time and in full while maintaining applicable quality, regulatory, and trade compliance requirements.
## What you'll be doing

- Distribution Operations & Transportation: Oversee domestic and international finished-goods distribution, including transportation mode selection, routing, carrier and freight-forwarder coordination, shipment execution, tracking, and exception management to optimize cost, service, and reliability.
- Business Continuity & Risk Management: Develop and maintain contingency plans and escalation paths for carrier failures, capacity constraints, severe weather, customs delays, system outages, and other distribution disruptions.
- Establish alternate carriers and routing strategies and lead recovery actions to protect customer supply.
- International Shipping & Compliance: Lead international shipping execution and coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers, and internal partners.
- Ensure accurate shipping and trade documentation and adherence to IATA and applicable FDA, ISO, cGMP, import/export, and transportation requirements.
- Optimization & Performance Management: Develop and monitor KPIs including OTIF, freight spend, expedited freight, transit time, carrier performance, shipment exceptions, productivity, and international clearance performance. Use data, root-cause analysis, and continuous-improvement methods to reduce cost, improve service, and eliminate recurring failures.
- Stakeholder Collaboration & Capacity Planning: Partner with Supply Chain, Customer Service, Quality, Regulatory/Trade Compliance, Sales, and other functions to translate demand forecasts, product launches, and business requirements into distribution capacity, transportation, and resource plans.
- Attracts, develops, and retains talent. Ensures focus and alignment with functional and company goals. Provides employees with continuous feedback and coaching using talent-and-performance management tools fostering a culture of continuous learning and accountability.
- Holds oneself and others accountable to conduct business in a manner compliant with Bioventus’ Code of Compliance and Ethics, policies and procedures and internal controls applicable to their role
- Other duties as assigned.

What you'll bring to the table

- Minimum 5 years of experience in distribution, transportation, or logistics, including demonstrated experience managing domestic and international shipments; experience within the medical device industry or another regulated environment preferred.

- Advanced SAP experience in a distribution or warehouse environment is required. Experience with FedEx Ship Manager and other WMS, TMS, parcel, or freight shipping systems is preferred.

- Demonstrated working knowledge of international shipping practices and documentation, including freight forwarding, customs brokerage, commercial invoices, certificates of origin, Incoterms, tariff classification, import/export documentation, and applicable IATA requirements.

- Demonstrated experience using KPIs and operational data to improve service, cost, and process performance; lead business-continuity planning; perform root-cause analysis; and drive corrective and continuous-improvement actions.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced distribution environment, walk/stand for long periods, and remain flexible with extended hours and overtime. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong people-development, motivation, and accountability skills, and working knowledge of MS Office applications.
