The Role
We’re looking for two Finance Assistants to join our Global Finance team in London.
You’ll support the day-to-day Accounts Payable and Finance operations across our UK and US businesses, helping to ensure invoices, payments, expenses and reconciliations are processed accurately and on time.
Working closely with colleagues across Finance and the wider business, you’ll gain hands-on experience across purchase ledger, payment processing, client payments and reconciliations while developing a strong understanding of Kobalt’s global Finance operations.
This is a great opportunity for someone early in their Finance career who wants to build their technical accounting experience within a fast-paced, global music and technology company.
What You’ll Do
- Process UK and US invoices accurately and on time using NetSuite.
- Match invoices against purchase orders and ensure appropriate supporting information and approvals are in place.
- Support the preparation and execution of supplier payment runs, currently completed twice a week.
- Process payments using Kyriba, our Treasury management system.
- Prepare and manage payments to Kobalt clients.
- Complete supplier statement reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Support bank and account reconciliations.
- Process employee expenses accurately and promptly.
- Produce timely purchase ledger reports and maintain accurate financial records.
- Input relevant financial information into Kobalt’s internal systems, including our royalties database.
- Respond to internal and external queries relating to invoices, suppliers and payments, taking ownership of issues through to resolution where appropriate.
- Ensure activity is completed in line with Kobalt’s Finance processes, procedures and controls.
- Support colleagues across the broader Finance team with ad-hoc tasks and projects.
- Identify opportunities to make Finance processes simpler, more accurate and more efficient.
What You’ll Bring
Preferred:
- Experience working within a Finance, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable or similar environment.
- An understanding of purchase ledger or transactional Finance processes.
- Confidence working with numerical and financial data with strong attention to detail.
- Good Excel skills and confidence learning new financial systems.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders.
- A proactive approach to resolving queries and discrepancies.
- The ability to adapt and work effectively within a fast-paced Finance environment.
- An interest in developing a career within Finance and Accounting.
Additional Skills That Could Add Value:
- Experience using NetSuite or a similar accounting system.
- Experience using Kyriba or another Treasury management system.
- Experience processing supplier or client payments.
- Experience completing supplier statement or bank reconciliations.
- Experience working with multi-currency payments or within an international Finance environment.
- Familiarity with digital Finance, automation or expense-management tools.
What Success Looks Like
By Month 3: You’ll understand Kobalt’s core Finance processes and systems and be accurately processing invoices, expenses and payments with appropriate support.
By Month 6: You’ll be confidently managing your core responsibilities, completing reconciliations, supporting payment runs and resolving routine queries with increasing independence.
By Year 1: You’ll be a trusted member of the Finance team, consistently delivering accurate and timely work and proactively identifying opportunities to improve Finance processes and ways of working.
Key Behaviours for Success
Time Management & Prioritisation – You organise your workload effectively and can manage recurring deadlines and competing priorities within a busy Finance environment.
Problem-Solving & Initiative – You investigate discrepancies and queries rather than simply passing them on and are curious about how processes could work better.
Collaboration & Communication – You work effectively with colleagues across Finance and the wider business, communicate clearly and contribute positively to the team.
Professional Development
We’re committed to supporting your continued development within Finance. If you’re interested in pursuing a professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA, Kobalt can support you through your qualification, including eligible study materials, course and examination fees and paid study leave in line with our study support policy.
Interview Process
