About this role

IDEXX is looking to hire a Scientist to join the R&D Product Support Team . In this role, you will perform a variety of scientific activities to support and enhance our on-market product portfolio.

Why this role matters:

You will participate in or lead technically focused teams to define solutions to address project needs.  This will include executing experiments and/or following standard protocols at the laboratory bench to inform decisions or recommendations; using advance knowledge to analyze, interpret or make deductions from varying facts or circumstances; and presenting findings and results to review bodies and management on as needed basis.

- Define, design, and implement test plans, analyze results, and generate summary reports.
- Coordinate execution efforts either independently or through team collaboration.
- Generate and compile data that may potentially support feasibility, verification, validation and/or USDA data packages.
- Ensure project progress is conducted in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Communicate and present data to colleagues.

In this role, you will:

- Prepares materials, performs experiments, gathers data, carries out analysis and reaches conclusions.
- May also design experiments.
- Documents experiments and other lab or production activities and maintains such documents appropriately.
- Presents results and conclusions; this may also include preparing reports and/or summaries.
- Participate on and may manage teams, planning and organizing team activities.
- Orders and maintains equipment and work area.
- Collaborates and communicates with colleagues and others in related areas to provide work support, exchange information and ensure efficient processes.
- May produce and/or test reagents and final products and perform other production-related activities.
- Maintains knowledge of products and procedures, developments in the field and industry and regulatory environment.  Adheres to appropriate procedures and regulatory requirements.
- May participate in conferences, webinars and seminars to continue to develop knowledge.

What you need to succeed:

- BS or equivalent in a Biochemistry, Biotechnology or Bioengineering 5-7 years of experience or Master’s degree with 0-3 years of experience.

- Experience working in new product development or product support within a life sciences or diagnostics company is preferred.
- Knowledge and demonstrated use of 6 Sigma processes and problem-solving techniques are highly desirable.

- Good understanding of life and biological sciences.
- Experience with JMP is preferred, proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) required.
- Experience with diagnostic instrumentation development.
- Laboratory bench and instrumentation skills.
- Strong initiative, flexibility, positive attitude, and the ability to function effectively in a highly collaborative team environment.
- Excellent verbal, technical writing, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate and clear documentation.
- Good presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Organizational skills and ability to plan work.
- Takes initiative and is accountable (shows ownership); focuses on task at hand; detail oriented.
- Ability to work well under pressure, handle deadlines, resolve conflicts and facilitate solutions.
