About this role
The Quality Systems Specialist – Motion Solutions supports the administration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of MFCPs quality management system, including AS9100-related procedures, documentation, audits, inspections, and corrective actions. Working under general supervision, this role applies established quality policies, procedures, and practices to resolve moderately complex issues, support compliance with customer and certification requirements, and recommend practical improvements to quality processes. This position collaborates with production, operations, customers, suppliers, and certification bodies to support consistent product quality, accurate documentation, and timely resolution of nonconformities.
Salary: $33 - $39 an hour | DOE
Primary Duties:
- Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality policies, procedures, documentation, and work instructions consistent with AS9100, customer requirements, and MFCP standards.
- Administer inspection, testing, and quality verification procedures to confirm completed products meet stated quality standards or specifications prior to release.
- Perform inspection of incoming materials, in process inspections when needed in production, and outgoing inspection to ensure products are compliant to the customers requirements. Perform product inspections and complete quality documentation, including but not limited to First Article Inspections, Certificates of Conformance, Production Part Approval Process documents, and Part Submission Warrants.
- Review quality documentation, specifications, inspection records, and compliance requirements for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with customer and certification expectations.
- Support internal, process, customer, and certification audits by preparing documentation, coordinating audit activities, responding to findings, and tracking corrective actions through closure.
- Identify, document, analyze, and support resolution of nonconformities using established corrective action methods such as 5-Why, 8D, root cause analysis, and related problem-solving tools.
- Verify completion of corrective actions and help ensure lessons learned are documented and communicated to appropriate stakeholders.
- Support ongoing compliance with MFCPs Quality Management System, including AS9100 standards, standard operating procedures, inspection requirements, and related quality practices.
- Recommend testing, inspection, or quality checks at appropriate stages of the production process to identify non-compliant items or batches, reduce waste, and support timely release of conforming products.
- Collaborate with production, operations, purchasing, customers, suppliers, and external service providers to resolve quality issues, clarify requirements, and support effective communication across teams.
- Provide training, guidance, and day-to-day support to employees on quality procedures, documentation requirements, inspection practices, and AS9100-related processes.
- Maintain calibration logs ensuring all equipment is compliant to QMS requirements. Support compliance documentation, including REACH, RoHS, Conflict Minerals, and other customer or regulatory documentation as needed.
- Monitor quality trends, key performance indicators, audit findings, and recurring issues; recommend practical improvements to strengthen quality performance and operational effectiveness.
- Prepare written reports, quality summaries, audit updates, and related communications for internal stakeholders and management review.
- Participate in customer contract reviews as needed to evaluate and support quality standard requirements.
- Reject products, materials, or documentation that do not meet defined quality requirements and escalate issues according to established procedures.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities and support implementation of process and procedure improvements aligned with MFCP, customer, and quality standard requirements.
- Conduct risk assessments of assigned processes and tasks and reinforce safe work practices in accordance with company health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable quality standards, inspection methods, customer requirements, and MFCP procedures through training, collaboration, and ongoing professional development.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance and comply with all company safety guidelines.

Experience and Education:
- Associates or bachelors degree in quality, engineering, operations, manufacturing, business, or a related field preferred.
- Typically requires two (2) to four (4) years of related experience in quality assurance, inspection, manufacturing, production, distribution, or a similar technical environment.
- Experience applying quality policies, procedures, inspection methods, testing practices, corrective action processes, and documentation controls.
- Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, Lean, Six Sigma, or other external quality methodologies or standards preferred.
- Experience working with customers, suppliers, production teams, certification bodies, or cross-functional internal teams to support quality and compliance requirements.
- Must complete company-required training to develop and maintain appropriate product, system, safety, and quality process knowledge.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of quality assurance principles, inspection and testing methods, quality management systems, and applicable departmental policies, procedures, and practices.
- Knowledge of AS9100 requirements and related quality documentation, audit, corrective action, inspection, and compliance practices preferred.
- Ability to apply organization policies and procedures to resolve a variety of day-to-day quality issues of moderate scope and complexity.
- Ability to use established practices, procedures, and judgment to analyze problems, evaluate information, identify root causes, and recommend practical solutions.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem/situation analysis, sound judgment, and attention to detail.
- Ability to review drawings, specifications, inspection records, quality documentation, and customer requirements with accuracy and consistency.
- Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing experience preferred.
- Corrective action management experience preferred, including 5-Why, 8D, root cause analysis, or similar methods.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships and work effectively with production, operations, customers, suppliers, certification bodies, and internal support teams.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, document findings, communicate requirements, and support employee training.
- Ability to prioritize multiple requests, manage assigned work independently under general supervision, and escalate complex or unusual issues appropriately.
- Ability to provide guidance to employees with less experience on quality processes, documentation requirements, and established procedures.
- Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to cross-functional quality, audit, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records, follow through on corrective actions, and support audit readiness.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook; ability to learn and use MFCP quality, ERP, reporting, and documentation systems.
- Experience with Epicor Prophet 21 or similar ERP systems preferred.
- Familiarity with distribution, manufacturing, aerospace and defense quality requirements, and MFCP product lines preferred.
- Must be able to work with a wide variety of people and personalities in a collaborative team environment.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The essential functions of this position will require the employee to perform the following physical activities:
- Frequent use of office and warehouse equipment.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and move materials up to 70 lbs.
- Regular standing and walking on cement flooring; bending, reaching, climbing ladders.
- Work environments may include warehouses, offices, manufacturing sites, and customer facilities with varying temperatures and conditions.
- Regular, on‑site attendance required.
- Up to 10% of travel as needed by land and air.
