Tesla is seeking a motivated Structural Engineer to join our Charging Engineering team. This role will focus on advancing Tesla’s cutting-edge charging technologies, including Supercharger, Megacharger, and related products. The ideal candidate will contribute to the design, optimization, and execution of charging infrastructure projects, ensuring seamless integration with Tesla energy products and grid systems. They will support innovation in charging solutions while upholding Tesla’s standards for safety, efficiency, and scalability.
Perform structural analysis and design for industrial & commercial building and non-building structures, mechanical and electrical equipment and their components, solar PV structures, and retaining structures Apply provisions of ASCE 7 and IBC structural codes to determine seismic, wind, snow, dead, and live load demands on structural systems Utilize material codes for structural steel, cold formed steel, welding, reinforced concrete, masonry, wood and aluminum (AISC 360 , AISI S100, AWS D1.4, ACI 318, TMS 402, NDS, and ADM) Support design of shallow concrete foundations (mats, spread footings, grade beams), steel or concrete foundations (driven piles, helical piles, cast in place piers) utilizing site specific geotechnical reports. Perform anchorage analysis and design Prepare supporting structural reports. Assist with structural detailing and review of structural drawings. Review and redline 3rd party construction documents Review and seal structural sheets in project construction plan sets Apply automation tools to improve efficiency in producing structural construction documents and reports
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited program, or equivalent experience 2+ years of relevant structural engineering experience; Licensed Structural Engineer, in at least one state (California preferred) Proficiency in AutoCAD Working knowledge of building and material codes: ASCE 7, IBC, AISC 360 , AISI S100, AWS D1.4, ACI 318, TMS 402, NDS, and ADM Familiarity with structural analysis software like RISA, Enercal, L-pile, Idia Statica, Structure Point, ETABS, RAM, or similar Exposure to BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) structural support design, energy facilities design (utility-scale or industrial power infrastructure), solar PV structural design (racking, foundations, ground-mount or rooftop systems), MEP structural supports Strong learning mindset, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment

Expected Compensation $88,000 - $288,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
