Job Title: Project Manager Job Description The Project Manager oversees the full lifecycle of distributed energy resource projects, coordinating sales, engineering, procurement, and construction activities to deliver high-quality, safe, and cost-effective solutions. This role focuses on planning and executing microgrid and energy system projects, managing schedules and budgets, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and codes, and maintaining strong relationships with clients, partners, suppliers, and subcontractors. Responsibilities
- Liaise between internal sales, development, engineering, and procurement teams to align project objectives and execution plans.
- Prepare and manage detailed project implementation plans and scopes of work across engineering, procurement, and construction disciplines.
- Develop project cost estimates and track actual costs to maintain financial control and support accurate forecasting.
- Assist in preparing responses to requests for proposals (RFPs) for customers, equipment suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Coordinate execution planning with suppliers and subcontractors to achieve optimal quality, safety, cost, and schedule performance.
- Ensure all project activities comply with project design specifications, customer requirements, and applicable codes and standards.
- Manage required permitting activities from initial project planning through project close-out.
- Oversee the construction management team and subcontractors responsible for implementing construction projects, ensuring safety goals are consistently met.
- Manage overall project schedules and budgets, including contract change orders and requests for information (RFIs).
- Collaborate with procurement and engineering teams to resolve project issues and technical or logistical challenges.
- Monitor and report on project progress, risks, and issues to internal stakeholders and clients.
- Lead internal and external project meetings to communicate status, coordinate activities, and drive decision-making.
- Manage relationships with clients, partners, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders to ensure alignment and customer satisfaction.
- Support the delivery of energy resiliency, reliability, low carbon footprint, and economic value through creative and compelling project solutions.
Essential Skills
- At least 5 years of project management experience, preferably with construction-related responsibilities in energy systems.
- Proven experience managing multiple aspects of projects, including scope, budget, schedule, and permitting.
- Strong background in project management and construction management within energy systems or related fields.
- Bachelors degree required, preferably in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.
- Proficiency in MS Project for scheduling and project tracking.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional teams, including sales, engineering, procurement, and construction.
- Experience overseeing subcontractors and construction management teams to meet safety and performance goals.
- Ability to develop and manage detailed project implementation plans, work scopes, and cost estimates.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for leading meetings and managing stakeholder relationships.
- Capability to monitor project progress and provide clear, timely reporting on issues and performance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with distributed energy resource projects, including combined heat and power (CHP), fuel cells, energy storage, solar, and geothermal systems.
- Familiarity with microgrids and other distributed energy resource technologies.
- Understanding of energy resiliency, reliability, and low-carbon solutions and their economic value propositions.
- Experience coordinating permitting processes across multiple jurisdictions and agencies.
- background in responding to RFPs and working with equipment suppliers and subcontractors.
- Ability to optimize project execution for quality, safety, cost, and schedule performance.
- Comfort working in a role focused on physical energy infrastructure rather than information technology.
Work Environment This position operates in a hybrid work environment that combines remote work with time spent at company offices, project sites, and meetings with stakeholders. The role involves regular collaboration with cross-functional teams and external partners, including engineering, procurement, sales, construction management, suppliers, and subcontractors. Work is centered on microgrid and distributed energy resource projects, such as combined heat and power, fuel cells, energy storage, solar, and geothermal systems. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $80.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
