Purpose
GBM Onboarding is a critical component in AML Compliance efforts. The Officer assists in data entry as part of the KYC work done for GBM clients, ensuring compliance with enterprise-wide and local onboarding standards, including regulatory requirements and bank-driven due diligence measures.

Accountabilities
- Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Ensure client data and documentation are aligned with firm policies, standards, and procedures.
- Follow up with internal partners to ensure timely actions on cases requiring their input.
- Update firm systems and databases with information and documentation obtained from clients.
- Handle inquiries and ad hoc requests from internal clients, including Compliance, where required.
- Produce high-quality, error-free work independently and in a timely manner, meeting expected throughput rates.
- Manage workload effectively to prioritize cases, ad hoc requests, and projects in order to meet business demands.
- Understand and stay current with regulatory and tax requirements related to KYC.
- Support activities required for Global GBM clients.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursue effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles, while ensuring adherence to business controls related to operational, compliance, AML/ATF, sanctions, and conduct risk obligations.

Education / Experience / Other Information
- Basic understanding of Capital Markets and Corporate/Investment Banking.
- Undergraduate and/or graduate degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related discipline is considered an asset.
- Basic understanding of AML/KYC regulatory frameworks impacting client onboarding is preferred.
- Strong business acumen, judgment, critical thinking, and time management skills.
- Good interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills to build consensus and obtain cooperation from clients and colleagues.
- Willingness to work outside traditional business hours when required due to the international scope of the business and multiple stakeholders.
- Demonstrated teamwork, collaboration, responsiveness, accountability, and ownership.
- Ability to quickly learn policies, procedures, systems, processes, and controls.
- Written and verbal proficiency in English is mandatory.
