We are seeking a Youth Development Shift Supervisor to join our Residential Program team. This position serves as the lead staff member on shift and is responsible for maintaining consistency in behavior management programming, effectively managing crisis situations, ensuring adherence to the daily schedule, overseeing medication management practices, and assisting with the training and support of new staff.
In addition to supervisory responsibilities, this role works directly with youth who benefit from caring adults who help them develop healthy coping skills, make positive decisions, learn responsibility, and build healthy relationships. The Youth Development Shift Supervisor provides individual and group support, facilitates social skill development and recreation activities, and ensures the safety and well-being of youth through active supervision and engagement.
Shifts Available
- Four days per week
- 12:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
- Includes every other weekend
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the lead staff member on shift and provide support and guidance to team members.
- Maintain consistency in the program's behavior management system.
- Respond effectively to crisis situations and support de-escalation efforts.
- Ensure the integrity and consistency of the daily schedule.
- Oversee proper medication management and documentation.
- Assist with onboarding and training new staff.
- Supervise youth at all times and ensure a safe environment.
- Teach social skills, healthy coping strategies, and positive decision-making skills.
- Facilitate individual and small group activities.
- Support recreation and leisure activities that promote healthy development.
- Complete required documentation, reports, and other administrative tasks.
Qualifications
Education
Required: High School Diploma/GED
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or a related field
Experience:
Required: One (1) or more years working with at-risk youth or one (1) or more years in a leadership/supervisory role in any industry
Preferred: One (1) or more years of successful experience as a Youth Development Specialist
Other Requirements:
- State regulations require staff to be 21 years of age or older.
Training
In-services developed by the program and medication management when applicable. Attend workshops and seminars pertaining to curriculum development, human development, communicable disease, crisis intervention, and related topics. Successfully complete and maintain certification in Adult, Child and Infant CPR and First Aid, CBRF Fire Safety, verbal de-escalation, crisis intervention, and a program-approved physical intervention method.
