As a Fitness Specialist, you will assist with the daily supervision and administration of the facility. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting physical assessments, creating exercise prescriptions, covering the exercise floor, maintaining equipment, enforcing policies, and running member incentive programs while providing exceptional customer service. You will primarily work at the W.O. Walker Building but may occasionally attend Community Access & Wellness events.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, experience with fitness assessments and special populations, public speaking abilities, and the ability to work independently. Success in this role requires leading with empathy, demonstrating strong customer service skills, and maintaining self-awareness. Cleveland Clinic supports career growth and provides access to training opportunities through the Medical Fitness Association and internal resources.

A caregiver in this role works variable shifts between 6:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Main Campus.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

- Supervise exercise activities, monitor exercising participants and interact with members to ensure that exercise programs are carried out in a safe and effective manner.
- Create, implement and evaluate incentive programs to enhance exercise adherence and retention.
- Assist with the development and instruction of group exercise classes.
- Teach participants on class method, purpose and procedures.
- Carry out other projects and duties as assigned by department supervisor or fitness center manager.
- Potential to travel to other fitness locations as needed.
- Support departmental projects and additional duties assigned
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

- High school diploma or GED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, Physical Education, Health Science, Kinesiology, or other health or a wellness related field
- First-Aid, ACE and CSCS
- One year experience in a Fitness Center environment
- Background in program management and/or exercise testing

Physical Requirements:

- Ability to maneuver, carry, lift, bend, stoop, swim, walk and sit for extended periods of time.

Personal Protective Equipment:

- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
