SAIC is seeking a Senior Riverbed System Engineer to serve as a senior technical authority for Riverbed performance monitoring, digital experience management, and network visibility platforms across the enterprise environment located at MacDill AFB, FL. This role is responsible for engineering, administration, optimization, cybersecurity compliance, and lifecycle management of Riverbed technologies excluding SteelHead WAN optimization appliances.
The Senior Riverbed System Engineer will be responsible for but not limited to the following duties:
- Design, implement, and document secure Riverbed monitoring architectures and data flows across NIPR, SIPR, and SOCRATES enclaves.
- Engineer scalable, interoperable deployments for hybrid, virtual, and physical infrastructures, ensuring enclave segmentation and cross-domain compliance.
- Integrate Riverbed platforms with SIEM, ITSM, cybersecurity, and enterprise monitoring tools.
- Provide Tier II/III engineering support, including root cause analysis and incident/war-room support.
- Administer configuration, system health monitoring, performance tuning, upgrades, patching, backups, and disaster recovery validation.
- Maintain RBAC, auditing, configuration management, and change control; ensure monitoring servers and data collection remain reliable and accurate.
- Ensure interoperability across Windows and Linux environments and resolve subsystem compatibility issues.
- Monitor and analyze application, network, and endpoint performance to identify and mitigate mission and user impacts.
- Develop dashboards and reports and recommend actions to reduce latency, packet loss, and user-impacting incidents.
- Optimize alert thresholds and monitoring policies to improve signal-to-noise ratio.
- Maintain compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements, including STIG implementation and enclave-specific hardening baselines.
- Support ATO lifecycle activities, including documentation, control validation, and coordination of vulnerability scanning and remediation.
- Develop and maintain SOPs, engineering diagrams, and operational runbooks.
- Produce recurring operational reports and brief leadership on system health, trends, and risk posture.
- Coordinate with Network, Cybersecurity, Systems, and Application teams; act as technical liaison between contractor teams and government leadership.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior staff.
- Use basic to intermediate scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python) to automate routine monitoring, administration, and reporting tasks.
The Senior Riverbed System Engineer will operate within and support multiple classified and unclassified environments, ensuring secure, compliant, and highly available performance monitoring capabilities across J6 mission systems. This position supports operations within the following enclaves:
- NIPR (Non-classified Internet Protocol Router Network)
- SIPR (Secret Internet Protocol Router Network)
- SOCRATES (as defined by the supported command architecture)
The Riverbed SR will manage and support the following suites, as deployed:
- Riverbed AppResponse
- Riverbed NetProfiler
- Riverbed Portal
- Riverbed Aternity
- Riverbed NPM+
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree and nine (9) years’ experience; additional four (4) years’ experience can be considered in lieu of degree.
Required Clearance:
- Must possess an active TS/SCI security clearance with the ability to maintain; US Citizenship required.
Required Skills:
- Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability in performance optimization and system engineering processes.
- Strong foundation in network and performance monitoring, including TCP/IP, SNMP, NetFlow/sFlow, APM, and NPM.
- Proficient in administering Windows and Linux servers and managing virtualized environments (e.g., VMware).
- Scripting skills in PowerShell, Python, and/or Bash, including use of REST APIs for automation and integration.
- Experience with enterprise tools such as Splunk, ServiceNow, and SQL databases for logging, reporting, and workflows.
- Experience supporting multi-enclave architectures (e.g., NIPR/SIPR; SOCRATES if applicable).
Required Certifications:
- Must be DoW 8140 compliant under the Work Role Code 451 – System Administrator - Intermediate level or above.
