Position Summary

The Production Underwriter Associate supports the underwriting, marketing, servicing, and placement activities of the underwriting team. This developmental position is designed to build technical underwriting knowledge, carrier relationships, and agency management skills while supporting profitable growth and exceptional customer service. The role serves as a pipeline for future advancement into a Production Underwriter position if/when appropriate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Underwriting & Broking Support (50%)

Technical Responsibilities

- Assist in evaluating and processing new and renewal business submissions.
- Gather underwriting information, applications, loss runs, and supporting documentation.
- Prepare quotes, proposals, binders, and underwriting files for review.
- Submit risks to carrier partners and monitor responses.
- Maintain underwriting documentation and electronic records.
- Support compliance and audit requirements.
- Develop knowledge of carrier appetites, products, and underwriting guidelines.

2. Agency Service & Relationship Support (35%)

Service Responsibilities

- Respond promptly to agent inquiries and service requests.
- Process endorsements, renewals, policy changes, cancellations, and reinstatements.
- Coordinate communication among agents, carriers, and internal stakeholders.
- Assist with account servicing and renewal preparation activities.
- Ensure policy transactions and documentation are completed accurately and timely.

3. Marketing & Business Development Support (15%)

Relationship Development

- Support Production Underwriters in agency marketing and business development activities.
- Assist with prospect tracking, pipeline management, and marketing initiatives.
- Prepare marketing materials and submission presentations.
- Develop an understanding of agency relationship management and sales strategies.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, Insurance, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 1-3 years of insurance, underwriting, brokerage, account management, or customer service experience preferred.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required insurance licenses.
- Basic understanding of commercial insurance concepts and terminology.
- Demonstrated interest in underwriting, sales, and business development.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent customer service orientation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and agency management systems.
- Ability to learn underwriting principles, carrier markets, and coverage concepts.
- Desire to grow into a Production Underwriter role through continued professional development.

Candidates should be comfortable with an on-site presence to support collaboration, team leadership, and cross-functional partnership.
