About this role

Analog and Mixed Signal Design Engineer Beaverton, OR (Onsite) Full-Time Permanent Position --- You'll design analog and mixed signal circuits for high end optical test and measurement instruments. This is full design work from day one, and the team pushes its designs to a very high level of optimization. Most of the job is analog, so you'll design the power and analog sections that support the FPGAs and microcontrollers on each board. Plan to start helping with board designs within your first couple of weeks, and to own analog design for the team after about six months. --- Responsibilities

- Design and support analog and mixed signal circuits from DC up to 2 GHz, including small signal amplifier chains, precision data acquisition circuits, and DC to DC power supplies.
- Build very low noise photodiode front ends and signal conditioning circuits.
- Analyze circuits with SPICE simulation and bench testing, and write up the results clearly.
- Take designs from first concept through component selection, schematic capture, simulation, prototype, and release to production, working closely with the team member who handles PCB layout.
- Design the analog and power circuits so they meet the needs of the FPGAs and microcontrollers on the board.
- Help manufacturing build test procedures and solve problems when a new product starts production.
- Set the test and acceptance criteria for finished products.
- Help customer service and marketing when a field problem needs an electrical engineer.
- Take part in design reviews and work with project teams from other departments.
- Keep up with new parts, technologies, and methods, and use them to improve how well products perform, how reliable they are, and how easy they are to build.
- Over time, lead larger projects that bring new or improved products into production, and mentor newer engineers.
- Work with suppliers and travel when the business needs it.

--- Qualifications Required

- BSEE or MSEE, or an equal mix of education, training, and experience
- At least 4 years of hands on analog and mixed signal circuit design
- Mixed signal board experience that leans analog, not analog only or digital only
- Strong analog fundamentals, including power supply design, amplifier design, power management, noise reduction, impedance, filtering, grounding, op amps, power distribution, ADCs, signal integrity, and GHz level signals
- Experience designing low noise signal chains and data acquisition circuits
- Experience with the full PCB design flow, with strong skills in component selection, schematic capture, and SPICE simulation
- Experience on boards with FPGAs or microcontrollers, and a clear sense of how to design the analog and power side to support them
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage several projects at once and set priorities

Preferred

- Altium Designer or a similar PCB design tool
- DC to DC power supply design experience
- Familiarity with Xilinx FPGAs or Microchip PIC microcontrollers and their tools
- Some C, C++, or C# experience for testing hardware
- Previous work within high performance industrial test and measurement instruments
- Exposure to fiber optic test and measurement methods
- Experience as both a team member and a project lead

--- Work Environment/Schedule This is an onsite role in a lab and office setting, five days a week, with some flexibility but no set hybrid schedule. You'll work every day with engineers and technicians on the design team, and each week with marketing, manufacturing, purchasing, and planning. You'll use SPICE tools, PCB CAD tools, and electronic test equipment regularly. --- Additional Information Benefits include PTO, sick leave, a 401k, and medical coverage. The interview is one step, made up of two 45 minute video interviews, with an optional onsite tour afterward. A criminal history check and drug test are required. --- Skip the wait Book 15 minutes with me and I'll walk you through whether this is worth your time. Book a quick call ---
