Lead Dining Services in a Healthcare Setting

Pyramid Healthcare’s Silver Ridge location in Mills River, NC is seeking an experienced Dining Services Manager to oversee daily food service operations and lead a team dedicated to providing high-quality meals and dining experiences for our clients.

The Dining Services Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the dining services department, including meal preparation, staff supervision, scheduling, purchasing, inventory, food safety, and regulatory compliance. This position works closely with facility leadership and the dietitian to ensure meals are prepared and served safely, efficiently, and according to individual client dietary needs.

What You'll Do

- Oversee the daily operations of the dining services department, including meal preparation, cooking, portioning, and serving.

- Ensure meals are prepared according to standardized menus, recipes, dietary requirements, and established quality standards.

- Lead, train, coach, schedule, and support dining services staff.

- Participate in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and performance management of department employees.

- Establish clear expectations and promote accountability, teamwork, and a positive work environment.

- Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and support to dining services employees.

- Schedule and lead department meetings, training, and in-service education.

- Manage food and supply purchasing, inventory, staffing, and labor costs while maintaining budget expectations.

- Monitor department performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and the client experience.

- Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and sanitary food service environment.

- Ensure compliance with applicable food service, health, safety, and regulatory requirements.

- Collaborate with the facility dietitian to ensure client dietary needs are met and modified diets are prepared and served accurately.

- Respond promptly and professionally to client and staff concerns.

- Investigate and report workplace accidents, injuries, incidents, and illnesses as required.

- Prepare monthly dining services reports and other operational reports as requested.

- Collaborate with facility administration and other departments to support overall facility operations.

- Participate in required meetings, trainings, and continuous improvement initiatives.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent required.

- Experience in food service operations within a healthcare facility, restaurant, school, or similar environment.

- Prior food service supervisory or management experience preferred.

- ServSafe certification required or the ability to obtain certification upon hire.

- Associate degree or higher in Food Service Management, Culinary Arts, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

- Knowledge of food preparation, quantity food service, and food service equipment.

- Strong leadership and team management skills.

- Excellent organization, time management, and multitasking abilities.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to prioritize responsibilities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

- Ability to address conflict professionally and effectively.

- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and operational needs.

- Ability to learn and follow applicable federal, state, and local regulations and facility procedures.

- Basic computer skills.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout the facility for extended periods. The Dining Services Manager must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 pounds as needed. The Dining Services Manager works primarily indoors at Silver Ridge in Mills River, NC , within a healthcare setting. The position involves regular interaction with clients, dining services employees, facility leadership, and other members of the care team.
