About this role
Description
We are hiring a Deal and Contract Operations Manager to join our Business Operations team in San Francisco. In this role, you will design and own the end-to-end deal and contracting processes mainly by supporting and training deal owners on contracting workflows, including operational ownership of our contracting tool, acting as the escalation point before deals get stuck, coordinating across internal approver teams such as Legal, Tax, and Finance to keep deals moving forward, and ensuring every signed partner has a smooth onboarding experience by involving the right stakeholders pre- and post-close.
Because you sit at the center of every deal, you will have a unique vantage point to spot what needs to be standardized, automated, or tooled across the deal lifecycle, and coordinate with the rest of the functions under Bizops (i.e. Sales Ops, Order Management, Business Systems etc.) to make it happen. You will use that perspective to build frameworks, drive process automation, and continuously reduce the time it takes to get from contract signing to customer onboarding, ensuring downstream teams like Partner Success, Order Management, and Logistics are engaged at the right time.
Key job responsibilities
- Design and maintain the end-to-end contract operations processes, from template selection support through approval alongside Legal so that deal owners (i.e. Business Development and Partner Success teams) can move deals through the process efficiently and with minimal friction.
- Project-manage deals from contract signing through customer onboarding, ensuring downstream teams (Partner Success, Order Management, RevOps, Logistics) are engaged at the right time prior to deal close, and that non-standard terms are highlighted and passed along to the correct stakeholders.
- Troubleshoot Contract Lifecycle Management (i.e.) workflow issues, advise on routing and approvals, and unblock bottlenecks so deal owners can keep momentum.
- Train and equip Business Development teams to be self-sufficient in the contracting process: how to create CLM workflows, select the right contract template and deal term configuration, route to the correct approvers, and anticipate approval requirements
- Ensure contract templates are properly created and maintained within the CLM system in adherence with the Amazon policy, and assist Business Development with escalating redlines to Legal and driving alignment on accepted terms.
- Use your centralized vantage point across all deals to spot patterns and identify what needs to be standardized, automated, or tooled, translating those insights into process improvements that make the entire deal lifecycle faster and more consistent.
- Lead process automation initiatives with the goal of decreasing contract throughput time and increasing deal signing velocity.
- Develop lightweight tooling and streamlined processes for higher-frequency, lower-complexity deals (e.g., direct Enterprise deals), including enabling 3P sales reps to independently handle NDAs and select contracting workflows on our behalf.
- Develop AI-based mechanisms to handle specialized deals with exception approvals for non-standard requests.
- Collaborate closely with Sales Ops and Order Management to feed process automation ideas and ensure the right tooling gets built to reduce manual effort across the deal-to-onboarding lifecycle.
- Continuously improve the onboarding experience for B2B customers by removing avoidable friction points, with decreasing time-to-onboard as a key success metric.
A day in the life
You might start your morning checking in on active deals in Contract Central, spotting one that's waiting on Tax approval and flagging to the BD owner how long that step usually takes. By midday, you could be helping a Business Development lead pick the right contract template and approval routing for a non-standard deal, or bringing Partner Success and Order Management in ahead of a signing so onboarding starts smoothly. Afternoons often involve working with Legal, Finance, and Sales Ops to clear a recurring bottleneck, followed by turning what you've seen across deals into a standard workflow or an automation idea. You will regularly train deal owners on contracting best practices and present recommendations to leaders on reducing time from signing to onboarding.
