The Intern will support Energy Analysts, Sustainability Analysts, and Project Managers, and will be exposed to high-profile green and high-performance building projects – locally, nationally, and internationally – with the opportunity to work alongside major real estate developers, award-winning design firms, and top-tier construction companies. The Intern will be integrated into a team of talented SOCOTEC professionals who have completed over 500 LEED projects worldwide, are at the forefront of energy and materials innovation, and have been actively involved in the U.S. Green Building Council since its inception. Our project types are broad, including offices, multi-family residential (mid & high-rise), assembly, natatoriums, and art galleries, with project sizes typically ranging from 100k to 2 million square feet.
Join a team at the forefront of net-zero design, building decarbonization, and carbon emissions reduction strategies, helping clients create high-performance, sustainable buildings that support long-term environmental goals while advancing the future of the built environment.
This internship is designed for a student or recent graduate looking to gain hands-on, practical exposure to building energy performance, sustainability consulting, and green building certification processes. - Observe and assist with introductory dewpoint analysis exercises as part of training
- Shadow senior staff on hygrothermal (WUFI) and CFD project files to learn the basics of the software and workflow
- Support project teams with administrative and research tasks related to building certifications (LEED, WELL, and similar programs)
- Help identify and summarize sustainable design/construction ideas found during research, for review by senior staff
- Research energy codes, sustainability concepts, and green building certification programs (LEED, ENERGY STAR, WELL, etc.) and summarize findings
- Help organize and proofread reports, calculation summaries, and project files
- Communicate with team members and assist with basic coordination tasks as directed
- Keep files and trackers organized, and help monitor progress on assigned tasks
- Occasionally help prepare slides or materials for internal presentations, white papers, or case studies
- Attend in-house seminars, training sessions, and team meetings to build foundational knowledge
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing, or recently completed, a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil), Physics, Sustainability, Interior Design, or a related field
