About the role
GEL Laboratories, LLC, an affiliate of The GEL Group, Inc., is looking for a Laboratory Support Technician to join our team of professionals in our Charleston, SC office to support various laboratory functions. As a Laboratory Support Technician you are responsible for conducting a variety of preparatory activities to support various analytical testing in the radiochemistry laboratory.
What you'll do
- Conducts all activities in a safe and efficient manner
- Prepares lab ware for procedures
- Prepares containers for sampling with proper preservation and shipping protocols
- Performs sample management and disposal operations
- Performs standard operating procedures (e.g. aliquoting and digestions)
- Performs data entry activities
- Operates basic laboratory instrumentation and equipment
- Use the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to prioritize laboratory production workflow
- Follows written and verbal instructions
- Assist with supplies, balance, and pipette checks
- Demonstrate and support GEL core values
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Associates degree in a scientific discipline (Chemistry, Biology) is preferred
- Prior laboratory experience preferred but not required
- Basic math and computer skills required, along with the ability to learn M365, LIMS, etc.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Good organization and communication skills

Working Environment & Physical Demands
This position requires working in a busy production laboratory, safely processing samples from around the world. Safety is a priority, and negligence is not tolerated. Safety equipment is provided, and use is mandatory.

- Precise hand/eye coordination and finger/hand manipulation.
- Potential exposure to chemicals and to hazardous and/or radioactive materials.

- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
