Position Title: Oil and DEF Sales & Delivery Specialist
- Department: Energy
- Reports To: Energy Department Manager
- Status: Exempt
- Good Faith Pay Rate: $55,000 - $65,000 annually
Purpose & Summary Statement
Under the direction of the Energy Department Manager, the Oil and DEF Sales & Delivery Specialist generates profitable sales within an assigned territory through target marketing, competitive analysis, and the delivery of value-added energy products, services, and strategic recommendations. This position ensures the creditworthiness of customers and actively promotes company credit programs as effective marketing tools.
Essential Job Functions
- Market Awareness: Maintains thorough knowledge of company programs, billing procedures, and the monthly statement process.
- Territory Analysis: Develops territory and competitive analyses to maintain up-to-date knowledge of the marketplace and competition.
- Sales & Consultation: Provides value-added energy products, services, and recommendations to patrons and prospects. Meets regularly with patrons to share product and technical information.
- Lead Generation: Maintains a preferred prospect list and actively calls on prospective customers to solicit new business.
- Marketing Promotion: Communicates marketing programs and distributes sales promotion materials to customers and prospects.
- Logistics & Delivery: Establishes an efficient route system within the delivery territory; delivers DEF and oil products according to customer requirements.
- Data Logging: Records sales and delivery information accurately on daily sales logs.
- Account Management: Collects on outstanding accounts as needed in strict accordance with the company credit policy.
- Issue Resolution: Follows up on customer complaints promptly and seeks mutually beneficial solutions in a timely manner.
- Reporting: Submits required reports promptly as requested by the supervisor and communicates trade territory activities on a regular basis.
- Facility Maintenance: Maintains the bulk plant and all equipment used to transport and move products.
Other Job Functions
- Vehicle & Image Care: Maintains the assigned delivery vehicle according to company standards, adheres to the corporate uniform policy, and consistently projects a professional image.
- General Duties: Performs all other duties assigned by management.
Job Requirements
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1–2+ years of sales experience demonstrating strong reasoning skills, practical problem-solving, and the ability to handle customer inquiries effectively.
Licensing & Certifications
- Must possess, or be able to obtain and maintain, a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a Hazmat endorsement.
- Must be able to obtain the Energy Advisor Certification.
Physical & Environmental Demands
- Mobility: Ability to safely enter, exit, and operate all required company vehicles and equipment.
- Climbing: Ability to climb ladders, stairs, steps, and structures to a height of 15 feet frequently
- Lifting: Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds regularly.
- Schedule: Willingness to work flexible hours beyond a standard schedule and stay overnight on occasion.
- Weather: Frequent exposure to extreme outdoor weather conditions.
- Work Environment: Occasional exposure to dust, fumes, chemicals, and potential electrical hazards (utilizing appropriate safety measures and PPE).

Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. In addition to base pay, certain roles may be eligible for bonuses, incentives, and commissions.
