Job Description Summary

The Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and executing the marketing strategy for Chaminade Resort & Spa, a distinctive mountaintop resort surrounded by redwoods in Santa Cruz, California. This role will lead initiatives that increase brand awareness, drive hotel occupancy and revenue, strengthen The View restaurant and food & beverage business, promote spa and recreational offerings, and position Chaminade as a premier destination for leisure, group, wedding, and local experiences.

The Marketing Manager will serve as the property's primary marketing leader and work closely with Hotel Leadership, Sales, Revenue Management, Food & Beverage, Spa & Fitness, Recreation, and Operations to create compelling campaigns, guest experiences, events, and partnerships that showcase what makes Chaminade unique.

This position will oversee the property's digital presence, social media, website content, online reputation, local partnerships, public relations opportunities, and on-property promotional initiatives. The ideal candidate is creative, highly organized, digitally savvy, hospitality-focused, and passionate about storytelling and creating memorable guest experiences.

Qualifications: Education, Knowledge, Training & Work Experience

- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, Hospitality, Business, or a related field preferred.
- 3–5+ years of hospitality, resort, tourism, lifestyle, or destination marketing experience preferred.
- Experience managing social media platforms and developing content strategies for a hospitality or consumer-facing brand.
- Strong understanding of digital marketing, social media trends, content marketing, email marketing, SEO/SEM, and online reputation management.
- Experience with website content management systems, Google Analytics/GA4, Google Ads, and digital marketing platforms.
- Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or other graphic design and content creation tools preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with hotel leadership, ownership, vendors, partners, and team members.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple campaigns, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret marketing performance data and translate results into actionable recommendations.
- Hospitality, restaurant, spa, wellness, recreation, events, or destination marketing experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of the Santa Cruz, Monterey Bay, and greater Bay Area leisure and tourism markets preferred.
- Self-motivated, creative, outgoing, and collaborative with a strong eye for detail.
- Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events based on business needs.

Essential Functions

Marketing Strategy & Planning

- Develop and execute Chaminade Resort & Spa's annual marketing plan in partnership with Hotel Leadership, Sales, Revenue Management, and operational departments.
- Develop marketing strategies that support occupancy, ADR, group business, weddings, food & beverage revenue, spa revenue, recreation, and other ancillary revenue opportunities.
- Manage the property's marketing calendar, campaigns, promotional initiatives, and associated budgets.
- Identify opportunities to differentiate Chaminade within the competitive Santa Cruz and greater Monterey Bay hospitality market.
- Monitor industry trends, consumer behavior, competitor activity, and local events to identify new marketing opportunities.

Digital Marketing & Social Media

- Manage Chaminade's organic social media presence, including content planning, creation, scheduling, publishing, engagement, and performance reporting.
- Develop compelling content that showcases the resort's redwood setting, accommodations, The View restaurant, Spa & Fitness, recreation, events, weddings, meetings, seasonal experiences, and local destination appeal.
- Oversee website content to ensure information is accurate, visually compelling, current, and aligned with the resort's brand and revenue objectives.
- Manage digital listings and third-party channels to maintain accurate and engaging property information.
- Partner with corporate marketing teams and outside agencies on paid digital campaigns, SEO/SEM, email marketing, retargeting, and other digital initiatives.
- Monitor digital performance and recommend adjustments based on engagement, traffic, conversion, and revenue results.

Content Creation & Storytelling

- Lead the development of engaging photography, video, social media, written content, and other creative assets that tell the Chaminade story.
- Coordinate photography and videography opportunities while ensuring appropriate advance communication with hotel leadership and operational departments.
- Develop seasonal and promotional campaigns that highlight the resort's unique experiences and destination.
- Ensure all marketing content reflects the Chaminade brand while maintaining an authentic connection to the Santa Cruz Mountains and local community.
- Collaborate with team members to identify compelling guest experiences, associate stories, events, and property features that can be incorporated into marketing content.

On-Property Experiences & Promotions

- Partner with operational departments to develop and promote memorable guest experiences, seasonal activations, and revenue-generating programs.
- Lead promotional campaigns for The View restaurant, food & beverage events, holiday programming, wellness offerings, spa experiences, recreation, weddings, meetings, and other resort programming.
- Collaborate with Food & Beverage leadership to develop campaigns that increase awareness and traffic to The View and other F&B offerings.
- Support initiatives that showcase Chaminade's amenities, including the pool, spa, fitness, pickleball, tennis, outdoor spaces, fire pits, and surrounding redwood environment.
- Develop opportunities that encourage local residents to visit and engage with the resort beyond overnight stays.

Public Relations & Community Partnerships

- Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, attractions, tourism organizations, chambers of commerce, community organizations, influencers, media outlets, and other strategic partners.
- Coordinate media visits, influencer opportunities, community events, sponsorships, partnerships, and local activations.
- Identify opportunities for earned media and positive exposure for Chaminade.
- Represent the resort at appropriate community and industry events.
- Develop partnerships that increase Chaminade's visibility within the Santa Cruz and surrounding markets.

Online Reputation & Guest Engagement

- Monitor online reviews and social media conversations across relevant platforms.
- Identify recurring guest feedback and trends and partner with operational leadership to address opportunities.
- Support initiatives designed to improve guest satisfaction, online reputation, engagement, and overall brand perception.
- Help ensure the online guest experience accurately reflects the experience delivered at the resort.

Cross-Department Collaboration

- Work closely with Sales and Revenue Management to support business strategies, promotions, group business, weddings, and need periods.
- Partner with Food & Beverage to promote The View, events, seasonal offerings, and local dining experiences.
- Collaborate with Spa & Fitness and Recreation to increase awareness and participation in resort amenities and programming.
- Partner with Operations to develop campaigns that enhance the overall guest experience.
- Work with Human Resources and the Chaminade team to appropriately showcase associate engagement, culture, and the property's Redwood Ambassador identity when appropriate.
- Support hotel leadership with marketing materials, presentations, promotional initiatives, and special projects.

Analytics & Reporting

- Track and analyze marketing performance, including website traffic, social media engagement, campaign performance, digital advertising, email performance, public relations exposure, and revenue impact.
- Prepare regular marketing reports and communicate results, opportunities, and recommendations to Hotel Leadership.
- Use data and performance trends to continuously optimize campaigns and marketing initiatives.
- Maintain organized records of marketing calendars, campaigns, creative assets, partnerships, and performance results.

Brand Standards & Compliance

- Maintain consistency with Chaminade, Pyramid Global Hospitality, and applicable brand standards.
- Ensure all marketing materials, digital content, promotions, and communications accurately represent the resort and its offerings.
- Coordinate with corporate marketing and ownership partners as needed to ensure strategic alignment.
- Maintain professional relationships with outside vendors, agencies, media partners, photographers, influencers, and community organizations.

Work Environment

This position is primarily based on-site at Chaminade Resort & Spa and requires regular interaction with guests, associates, hotel leadership, vendors, community partners, and other stakeholders. The Marketing Manager should be comfortable working throughout the resort, attending events, capturing content, and participating in occasional evening and weekend activities to authentically represent the Chaminade experience.
