About this role
Fortera is transforming one of the world’s largest industries by reinventing how cement is made. Headquartered in Silicon Valley, Fortera has developed next-generation cement technology that delivers high performance while reducing CO₂ emissions by up to ~70%. By mineralizing CO₂ and turning it into a productive feedstock, Fortera converts emissions into a valuable building material, creating a more sustainable path for modern construction.
With our commercial ReCarb® plant operating in Redding, California, and a growing global project pipeline, Fortera is moving from first-of-a-kind deployment to scaled commercialization. Our technology is already being used in real-world infrastructure applications, bringing next-generation cement into use today while expanding toward broader adoption.
At Fortera, you’ll work alongside scientists, engineers, operators, and industry experts who are turning cutting-edge materials science into real-world impact. We’re looking for curious thinkers, builders, and problem-solvers who want to help tackle one of the biggest challenges facing our planet.
This is more than a job. It’s an opportunity to help shape the future of sustainable construction.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Capital Projects Team develops, coordinates, and directs the design and construction of processing plants utilizing Fortera's proprietary technologies, typically located at existing cement or lime facilities. We internally drive projects to successful completion while engaging engineering, purchasing and sourcing equipment, and construction partners to execute large-scale industrial facilities.
We are currently looking for a Project Services Manager to join our team. Reporting functionally to the Project Delivery Manager, this role leads the integrated project-services function across planning and scheduling, cost control, forecasting, information management, progress measurement, risk, change control, and management reporting.
A key expectation of this role is to develop and build out AI-enabled project delivery capabilities. The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in applying AI, automation, and data integration to project execution, including the ability to design, build, and deploy AI agents and workflows that automate routine activities, connect project information across systems, identify emerging risks and trends, improve forecasting, accelerate reporting, and provide actionable recommendations to support the project team and leadership in decision making.
The successful candidate will combine strong capital-project controls experience with advanced digital capability, transforming complex project data into reliable forecasts, early warning, clear management action, and an increasingly automated and scalable project-services operating model.
Travel : Up to 25% travel is required.
READY TO BUILD WHAT’S NEXT?
Do you want to turn ambitious ideas into reality as part of a team that designs, buys, builds, tests, and runs its own facilities?
Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities evolve, challenges change, and you are willing to adapt, step into gaps, solve problems, and do what is needed to help the team deliver?
Do you take ownership, contribute to decisions, act with urgency, and stay accountable through to the outcome?
Do you believe in building collective strength through collaboration, sharing knowledge, supporting others, and putting the success of the team ahead of individual boundaries?
Are you motivated to work at the forefront of innovation, push what is possible, bring ideas to life, and use technology, AI, and continuous improvement to deliver better performance and results?
If this sounds like you, we’d like to hear from you.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead Project Services across planning, cost, forecasting, information management, progress, risk, change, and reporting.
- Establish and maintain the integrated project controls framework, including common structures, baselines, reporting cycles, data governance, and control standards.
- Assure schedule, cost, commitments, cash flow, progress, risk, change, procurement, completions, and information are integrated and aligned to the approved project baseline.
- Lead Planning / Scheduling, Cost Control, and Project Information Management, setting priorities, standards, and performance expectations.
- Own project reporting and provide clear visibility of current status, forecast outcomes, critical issues, emerging risks, required decisions, and corrective actions.
- Provide early warning by challenging incomplete, inconsistent, or unsupported forecasts and requiring accountable recovery plans.
- Own integrated risk, opportunity, and change-control processes while maintaining clear approval and accountability boundaries.
- Build and deploy reusable AI agents, automated workflows, data integrations, and digital standards that improve forecasting, reporting, risk identification, information retrieval, and decision support while increasing scalability, consistency, and execution efficiency across Fortera projects.
- Establish the data structure and governance required for reliable AI-enabled project services, including source traceability, validation, access control, and human review.
- Identify and automate high-value project-services activities, reducing manual effort and shifting the organization toward exception-based management.
- Support investment, engineering, procurement, construction, completions/ commissioning, startup, handover, and closeout decisions with verified project information.
- Maintain clear Project Manager visibility of cost, schedule, commitments, critical interfaces, cash requirements, information constraints, and project exposure.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
SUCCESS IN THE ROLE:
Success means the Project Manager and functional leaders operate from one trusted view of scope, schedule, cost, cash, progress, risk, change, and information status. Forecasts are credible, emerging impacts are identified early, and decisions are supported by verified data.
The successful candidate is flexible and adaptive to the needs of the team, stepping into gaps, adjusting priorities, and improving how project information is integrated and used. Corrective actions are identified and assigned early, before cost or schedule pressures become embedded, while technology, automation, and AI are applied where they improve visibility, efficiency, and decision-making.

- 10+ years of relevant experience supporting or leading large-scale capital projects.
- Proven project-services or project-controls leadership experience across engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience designing, building, deploying, and orchestrating AI agents and multi-agent workflows, with strong technical understanding of agent architecture, system integration, data connectivity, validation, traceability, access controls, and human-in-the-loop governance.
- Demonstrated experience applying AI and automation to improve data integration, analysis, forecasting, reporting, information retrieval, workflow efficiency, or decision support.
- Strong command of planning, cost control, forecasting, progress measurement, risk, change, information management, and executive reporting.
- Strong working knowledge of critical-path scheduling, project baselines, commitments, accruals, Estimate at Completion, cash flow, contingency, earned value, and change control.
- Advanced capability with Primavera P6, Excel, Power BI, ERP systems, document-management, completions, and related project platforms.
- Proven ability to analyze complex and conflicting information, challenge assumptions, and develop credible forward-looking forecasts.
