We are looking for a scientifically driven, collaborative, and patient-focused Medical Science Liaison (MSL), Immunology (Rheumatology) to join our Canada Immunology team, supporting South-Western Ontario and Manitoba .

About the Role

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a professional who serves as a key field-based scientific partner to healthcare providers and decision-makers, medical professional associations, and internal UCB colleagues. This professional will be responsible for executing key medical strategies to enhance and positively impact patients living with chronic inflammatory diseases.

Who you will work with

- Internal partners:  Medical Solutions team, Medical Information and cross-functional commercial colleagues (e.g., sales, marketing).
- External partners : healthcare providers and key opinion leaders (KOLs), clinical investigators, medical decision-makers in health systems/IDNs.

What you’ll do

- Maintain deep therapeutic-area expertise by staying current on pre-clinical and clinical data, treatment options, emerging standards of care, and competitive landscape for AxSpA and PSA in Rehumatology.
- Delivering clinical value propositions and engaging with key decision-makers in medical groups, integrated delivery networks (IDNs), and regional payers.
- Deliver balanced scientific exchange and clinical value propositions, including addressing medical information inquiries and providing effective, audience-tailored presentations to internal and external audiences.
- Identifying and supporting potential research expansion projects, collaborations, medical advisors, and educational partnerships.
- Conducting local roundtables and education programs to enhance KOL understanding of unmet clinical needs.
- Serving as a scientific expert at medical and scientific conferences, advisory boards, clinical investigator meetings, and internal meetings.
- Supporting and collaborating with field-based cross-functional teams to provide medical insights and expertise.

- Reviewing and critiquing scientific publications to inform healthcare trends in Rheumatology and Immunology.
- Collecting, analyzing, and communicating information concerning therapeutic areas, treatment options, emerging standards of care, and competitive intelligence.
- Addressing medical information inquiries and providing effective clinical presentations to internal and external audiences.
- Locally supporting UCB clinical investigations and assessing feasibility, serving as the primary liaison for unsolicited Investigator-Initiated Studies (IISs) from inception to publication.
- Providing field updates for the creation and/or updating of Standard Response Letters.
- Operating at the highest level of UCB compliance and professional standards. Ethical decision-making and adherence to company guidelines are expected in all activities.

Interested? For this position, you'll need the following education, experience and skills :

Minimum Qualifications:

- Doctoral level degree e.g. PharmD, PhD, MD, or DO, Master Degrees including expertise in Rheumatology
- Must reside within the assigned territory.
- Valid driver’s license and ability and willingness to travel up to 60% in the designated territory.

Preferred Qualifications:

- 2+ years of Medical Science Liaison experience
- Relevant therapeutic area experience in neurology, neuromuscular, and/or rare diseases.
- Strong business acumen with a solid understanding of the pharmaceutical industry.
- Ability to clearly articulate complex scientific concepts in 1:1 and group settings.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of health, economic principles and clinical trials.
- Experience in partnership with Global and local therapy area experts and external organizations
- Must be a strong team player and effectively interface with other internal departments including regional business units, marketing, sales, medical affairs, and clinical operations.
- Creative approach to problem solving and able to work effectively in a constantly changing environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong time management and organizational skills with proficiency in Microsoft applications.
- Ability to work independently and manage a large territory with multiple stakeholders
- Must complete initial training and successfully pass all assessments within 90 days of hire

This positions reasonably anticipated base salary range is $109,000.00 - $143,000.00 annually. The actual salary offered will take into account related knowledge, skills, experience and location among other factors and may fall outside the expected range.
