Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Preferred Qualification
Postgraduate qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Commercial Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
Technical Certifications
Professional training or certification in Quantity Surveying, Cost Engineering, FIDIC, Contract Management, RICS, AACE, or related disciplines is preferred.
Experience
Minimum 7–10 years of relevant experience in mechanical quantity surveying, cost control, commercial management, or MEP construction projects.
Specific Industry Experience
Strong experience in quantity surveying for mechanical/MEP works, including HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, piping, utilities, and associated mechanical systems.
Computer Skills
Good proficiency in MS Excel, AutoCAD, quantity take-off/estimation applications, ERP systems, document-management systems, and project-control tools. Familiarity with BIM/Revit and Primavera P6 is advantageous.
Language Proficiency
Very good proficiency in Business and Technical English, including preparation of commercial reports, valuations, contractual correspondence, and supporting documentation.

Combination of office and project-site work involving drawing and BOQ reviews, computer-based analysis, site measurement, progress verification, commercial meetings, and coordination with project stakeholders.

Review and validate mechanical quantities and measurements; prepare and assess valuations and variations; review subcontractor payment applications and commercial submissions; request supporting technical information; maintain commercial records; recommend quantity and cost assessments; and escalate significant cost, contractual, or commercial deviations for management decision.

Mechanical Quantity Measurement & BOQ Management: Ensure accurate measurement and control of mechanical work quantities.
- Review drawings, specifications, BOQs, and scope requirements for mechanical works.
- Prepare and verify quantity take-offs for HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, piping, utilities, and other assigned mechanical systems.
- Maintain updated quantity records reflecting approved drawings and scope changes.
- Verify installed quantities through site measurement and progress reviews.
- Identify and reconcile differences between BOQ, design, and actual executed quantities.

Cost Control & Commercial Monitoring: Monitor mechanical costs and identify potential commercial deviations.
- Track mechanical budgets, commitments, actual costs, and forecast cost to complete.
- Monitor cost performance against approved budgets and commercial baselines.
- Identify potential overruns, savings, and emerging cost exposures.
- Provide quantity and cost information for project forecasts and commercial reports.
- Coordinate with Project Controls and Finance to reconcile relevant commercial information.

Progress Valuation & Payment: Ensure accurate valuation and certification support for mechanical works.
- Measure and value completed mechanical works for interim payment applications.
- Prepare measurement sheets and supporting documentation for client valuations.
- Coordinate responses to consultant/client comments on submitted quantities.
- Review subcontractor progress quantities and payment applications.
- Reconcile claimed, certified, and executed quantities and maintain appropriate records.

Variations & Change Management: Identify, quantify, and administer commercial impacts arising from mechanical scope changes.
- Identify potential variations arising from drawings, instructions, specifications, or site conditions.
- Prepare quantity and cost build-ups for mechanical variation submissions.
- Review revised designs and instructions to determine commercial impact.
- Maintain mechanical variation registers and supporting records.
- Track variation submissions, negotiations, approvals, and outstanding values.

Subcontractor Commercial Administration: Control quantity and payment matters associated with mechanical subcontracts.
- Review subcontract BOQs, rates, scope, and relevant commercial provisions.
- Verify subcontractor measurements, progress, and payment applications.
- Evaluate subcontractor variation and additional-work submissions.
- Monitor retention, deductions, back-charges, and other applicable commercial adjustments.
- Support measurement and commercial reconciliation of subcontractor final accounts.

Claims & Final Account Support: Maintain the quantity and cost records required to support contractual entitlement and project closeout.
- Compile measurement and cost information required for claims and contractual submissions.
- Support assessment of additional cost arising from changes, disruption, or other contractual events.
- Maintain contemporaneous records supporting mechanical commercial entitlements.
- Prepare and reconcile final quantities and final-account information.
- Support settlement and closure of outstanding mechanical commercial matters.

Commercial Reporting & Coordination: Provide reliable information and effective coordination of mechanical QS activities.
- Prepare periodic reports on quantities, valuations, variations, subcontract status, and cost exposure.
- Coordinate with Engineering and Site teams to capture approved design and execution changes.
- Participate in commercial, progress, and project review meetings.
- Maintain complete and auditable quantity-surveying records.
- Highlight significant commercial risks, pending approvals, and unresolved matters to management.
