About this role

company

Your new workplace

We’re Red Rose Care, a “Good” CQC-rated home care provider supporting people across Preston, Chorley and South Ribble.

For us, great care is personal. It’s about getting to know the person behind the visit, building trusted relationships and supporting people to live as independently as possible in their own homes. For our team, it means being properly paid, valued and supported to do a job that genuinely matters.

role

Leading a team in the field

As a Field Care Supervisor, you’ll be a familiar face for both the people we support and the team around them. You’ll lead and support a team of Home Care Assistants, working alongside our Senior Home Care Assistants and with the support of our Registered Manager.

You’ll still be hands-on, delivering care, getting to know the people we support and coaching team members out on visits. Alongside this, you’ll help make sure people receive safe, consistent and genuinely person-centred care - while giving your team the support and guidance they need to do their best work.

Full-time hours, varied shifts

This role is a minimum of 30 hours a week. Rather than a fixed round, you’ll work a mix of shifts set out on our weekly rota, along with every other weekend.

Because you’ll be supporting the whole service, this suits someone who’s comfortable with a varied week – some days out on visits, some days on reviews, supervisions and paperwork.

What you'd be doing

You’ll still provide hands-on care to people in their own homes across Preston, in line with their care plans and what matters to them. Alongside this, you’ll be responsible for:

- Leading, supervising and mentoring the care team, working closely with our seniors
- Making sure new team members complete their 12-week induction, including spot checks, medication competencies, observations and development plans
- Overseeing spot checks, supervisions and appraisals
- Managing new clients from first enquiry through to their care starting, including assessments, care plans and risk assessments
- Completing client reviews and keeping records up to date
- Working with families and health professionals to make sure care stays person-centred
- Monitoring sickness and attendance, completing return-to-work interviews and supporting disciplinary processes when needed
- Acting as safeguarding lead, making sure the people we support and our team are protected
- Helping with rotas and taking part in our on-call rota

Supporting people to do their best

A big part of the role is helping your team feel confident, supported and able to provide great care. You’ll get to know the people you work with, recognise what they do well, coach them where they need support and help them develop.

There’ll also be times when something isn’t quite right. You’ll be confident having honest, supportive conversations, understanding what’s behind an issue and agreeing a fair way forward - always keeping the people we support at the heart of it.

Inspection ready, every day

We don’t get ready for inspections when one is due - we aim to be ready all the time. You’ll play a big part in that, keeping up to date with CQC requirements, our policies and procedures, and making sure records, care plans, training and supervisions are accurate and on track as part of everyday work.

What you'd earn

- Between £14.52 to £15.15 an hour , depending on the time of day you're working
- Up to £29.50 an hour on bank holidays
- On-call payment
- Paid travel time between every visit
- 45p per mile between visits

The rest of it

- Guaranteed hours contract of a minimum of 30 hours a week
- Every other weekend
- Fully funded qualifications in care
- Additional annual leave for length of service (T&Cs apply)
- £350 when you refer a friend who joins us
- We pay for your Enhanced DBS check (T&Cs apply)
- Employee Assistance Programme
- Career progression into management roles

What you'll bring

Ideally, you’ll have at least 2 years’ experience in domiciliary care , along with experience of supervising, mentoring or leading others. You’ll be confident supporting a team, comfortable having honest conversations when needed, and organised when it comes to care plans, records and the day-to-day detail that keeps things running well.

You’ll also be comfortable building relationships with the people we support, their families and other professionals.

Above all, we’re looking for someone who is kind, reliable and genuinely cares about getting things right - someone who leads by example and helps others provide the same standard of care, every day.

Some testimonials from our team
“I like that I’m still out supporting clients, but I also get to be there for the care team. It’s rewarding seeing someone grow in confidence and knowing you’ve played a part in that.” Rachel “There’s a lot of trust in the role. You’re given responsibility, but you’ve also got a team around you when you need support. I feel like my experience is valued and that I can genuinely make a difference.” - Jess

What you need

A full UK driving licence and access to your own car - you’ll be travelling between people’s homes throughout your shift, so this is essential. You’ll also need business-use insurance.

You'll need to be 18 or over for this role.

Red Rose Care is an Equal Opportunities employer and welcomes applications from people of all backgrounds.
