Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity
We are looking for a Surfacing Worker to join our Invercargill team and play a hands-on role in delivering road maintenance and surfacing projects across the region.

As a Surfacing Worker, you'll work alongside experienced operators and crew members carrying out a range of road surfacing and maintenance activities across Southland. You'll support the delivery of projects safely, efficiently and to a high standard, helping ensure roads and transport networks remain safe and reliable for our communities.
This is a physically active role where you'll work outdoors in a team environment and contribute to a variety of projects throughout the year.
Day to day responsibilities:
- Carry out surfacing and road maintenance activities as directed by the Foreperson or Operations Supervisor
- Assist with asphalt, chipseal and general pavement construction works
- Complete pre-start inspections and basic maintenance checks on equipment
- Load, unload and handle materials safely and minimise wastage
- Support the wider crew to meet productivity, quality and safety targets
- Complete daily records, reports and other site documentation as required
- Build positive relationships with road users, residents and stakeholders while on site

W e’re looking for someone with a positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
You’ll ideally have:
- Previous experience in civil construction, road maintenance, surfacing or a similar industry
- Strong commitment to health and safety
- The ability to work well within a team environment
- Good communication skills and a proactive attitude
- Physical fitness and willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- A full class 1 Drivers License
