JOB PURPOSE
- As part of a multi-discipline project team representing AESG, conduct site inspections and verify the tested results are correct.
- Provide support to the project by delivering commissioning services in line with the high-standards clients of AESG have come to expect.
QUALIFICATION / EXPERIENCE
Education
MEP / Building services Engineering Degree
- BSc Mechanical Engineering
- BSc Electrical Engineering
- BSc Building Services Engineering
MEP / Building services Engineering College Diploma
- HNC, HND or equivalent
MEP / Building services Engineering College Certificate
- ONC, OND or equivalent
MEP Trade time served + City & Guilds certificate
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of job-related experience + Engineering degree
- Minimum 6 years of job-related experience + college diploma
- Minimum 7 years of job-related experience + college or Trade Certificate
Industry Accreditations
- Incorporated Engineer, desirable but not essential
- CSA Grade 4 qualifies, desirable but not essential
- Commissioning certification such as BCA, ACG or NEBB, desirable but not essential
GENERAL EXPECTANCY
- Significant experience and advanced competencies.
- Able to work independently on complex tasks.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Carry out site inspections and witness testing of mechanical systems including chilled water systems, HVAC equipment, AHUs, FCUs, CRAH/CRAC units, cooling towers, pumps, ventilation systems, plumbing, public health, fire protection systems, and associated equipment where applicable.
- Review drawings, sequences of operation, equipment schedules, method statements, testing procedures, and commissioning plans to ensure compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, and industry standards (CIBSE, ASHRAE, BSRIA, etc.).
- Verify installation readiness, including pipework, supports, insulation, labelling, accessibility, maintainability, and system completeness prior to testing.
- Witness and verify pre-commissioning activities including pressure testing, flushing, cleaning, water treatment, equipment start-up, and system readiness inspections.
- Validate system performance by reviewing flow rates, temperatures, pressures, control sequences, setpoints, TAB results, and equipment operation against design intent.
- Coordinate with contractors, TAB specialists, controls/BMS engineers, OEM vendors, and other stakeholders to plan testing activities, resolve technical issues, and ensure system readiness.
- Monitor commissioning progress, maintain commissioning trackers, deficiency logs, and readiness reports, and support programme delivery.
- Prepare high-quality site observation reports, commissioning records, technical comments, non-conformance reports, and punch lists.
- Participate in commissioning meetings, technical workshops, and coordination sessions, providing input on system readiness, technical risks, and programme constraints.
- Support functional performance testing, integrated systems testing, and verification of mechanical system interfaces with electrical, controls, fire protection, and life safety systems where applicable.
- Review TAB reports, water quality results, O&M manuals, as-built documentation, training records, and handover documentation prior to project completion.
- Ensure all commissioning activities are carried out in accordance with project procedures, health and safety requirements, quality standards, and industry best practice while representing AESG professionally in all project interactions.
