About this role

On behalf of UKRI, we are looking for a Business Analyst (Inside IR35) for a 6 month (until end of March 2027) contract based REMOTELY (occasional travel to Swindon - roughly once a month)

Job Purpose

UKRI's Digital, Data, and Technology Directorate (DDaT) provides Programme, Project & Change Management and Business Analysis support, leading the design, implementation and embedding of change across UKRI to deliver its vision and realise its strategic objectives . The primary focus of our work is to lead and deliver business change, including the implementation of new corporate systems, operating environment and organisational structures and the development of strategies and processes. We also support research initiatives and activities.

Due to a growing workload, we are recruiting for a Business Analyst to bolster both capacity and capability within our Data Delivery Programme. We are looking for a Business Analyst who can understand and analyse user and business needs and work with other DDaT functions to derive technical solutions to business problems. Our projects employ waterfall, agile, and business process improvement techniques, and you will have the opportunity to work across a range of these.

Your focus is to ensure project outcomes align with both the service vision and the business strategy by contributing to the link between current and future business models and delivering to the business architecture. We expect our Business Analysts to act as a critical friend to achieve solutions that are fit for purpose. You will facilitate collaboration and lead effective communication with all stakeholders to support design, build and delivery to meet the user needs.

As a Business Analyst , your main responsibilities will be:

- Requirements gathering - Driving the research and gathering of business requirements against those articulated for the project.
- Process modelling - Employing various tools and techniques to map ‘As-Is’ and To-Be’ business processes.
- Gap Analysis - Evaluating requirements against the present state (where we are) & the target state (where we want to be), identifying opportunities to develop successful business requirements needed to make the transition.
- Impact Analysis - Analysing the potential consequences of a change and estimate what needs to be modified to accomplish that change.
- Benefit Analysis - Evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of identified benefits analysis and lead on identifying business-related actions to assist with project delivery.
- Stakeholder Management and Engagement - Engaging with business owners, business change leads , and users to ensure delivery of common purpose.
- Facilitation - Working with business owners and business users to identify needs.
- System Analysis - Working with technical leads to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Essential:

- Can identify, document, and analyse the various delivery options and select the optimal solution.
- Systematically identify, analyse and communicate with stakeholders using appropriate channels, ensuring those impacted by the change are engaged, taking account of their levels of influence and particular interests.
- Identify, share, and promote best practices and lessons learned to create a culture of learning and good practice that supports continuous improvement.
