What You'll Do
This is a hands-on leadership position. As our Shop Foreman, you will carry your own load of repair orders—diagnosing and repairing vehicles—while concurrently supervising our team of automotive technicians. You will be the technical expert in the shop, responsible for dispatching work, providing guidance on complex repairs, and ensuring mechanical production goals are met. (Please note: This role is strictly focused on the mechanical shop and does not involve or oversee the detail department).
Key Responsibilities:
- Hands-On Diagnostics & Repair: Actively perform comprehensive vehicle inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and mechanical repairs on a wide variety of makes and models.
- Team Leadership & Supervision: Oversee, mentor, and train a team of automotive technicians. Act as the go-to resource for troubleshooting and resolving difficult technical issues on the shop floor.
- Workflow Management: Dispatch and assign repair orders based on technician skill levels. Prioritize the daily mechanical reconditioning schedule to ensure vehicles move through the shop efficiently.
- Quality Control: Perform final inspections and test drives to guarantee that all mechanical work meets our strict safety and quality standards before vehicles are cleared.
- Operational Efficiency: Monitor technician productivity and shop output. Identify bottlenecks in the mechanical reconditioning process and implement solutions to reduce turnaround time.
- Shop Safety & Equipment: Ensure all shop tools and equipment are properly maintained. Enforce OSHA regulations and company safety policies to maintain a clean, secure working environment.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience as an automotive technician. (Prior experience mentoring or leading others is a plus, but not required for the right candidate).
- Technical Expertise: Master-level knowledge of automotive diagnostics and mechanical repair across multiple makes and models. (ASE Certifications are highly preferred).
- Leadership Skills: Strong communication skills and the ability to motivate and develop technicians while successfully managing your own mechanical workload in a fast-paced environment.
- Problem-Solver: Highly organized with the ability to pivot quickly, prioritize jobs, and keep the shop running smoothly.
- Requirements: Must have your own tools, a valid drivers license, and a clean driving record.
What We Offer:
- Top-Tier Compensation: $120,000+ per year (Competitive base wage plus performance/production bonuses).
- Great Schedule: Monday through Friday schedule—no weekends required, giving you a true work-life balance.
