What is Expert Solutions Engineering – Infrastructure (Storage, Compute & Virtualization)?

The Expert Solutions Engineering – Infrastructure (Storage, Compute & Virtualization) will be responsible for solution discovery, architecture, qualification, technical proposals and customer engagement across enterprise compute, storage and virtualization technologies. The role will work across multiple OEM portfolios and coordinate with OEMs, distributors, OEM partners, system integrators and internal technical teams to develop fit-for-purpose infrastructure solutions. The role reports directly to the Head of Presales- SI & Manage Services and works closely with an extended Cross-functional presales, product, OEM, Distributor, Partner and delivery teams.

What does Expert Solutions Engineering – Infrastructure (Storage, Compute & Virtualization) do?

Key responsibilities

- Lead technical presales engagements for enterprise Compute, Storage, Backup/Recovery and Virtualization solutions across multiple OEM portfolios.
- Engage customers to understand business, application, workload, performance, availability, capacity, security, DR and growth requirements and translate them into technical solution requirements.
- Design and position scalable infrastructure architectures covering rack/blade servers, GPU/accelerated compute where relevant, SAN/NAS/object storage, hyperconverged infrastructure, virtualization and associated management platforms.
- Develop BoQ/BoM, sizing, architecture diagrams, technical compliance matrices, solution proposals, presentations, SoWs and responses to RFI/RFQ/RFP/tender requirements.
- Perform pre-work and solution qualification before customer meetings, workshops and technical presentations; identify gaps, dependencies, assumptions and risks.
- Work with OEMs, distributors, OEM partners and system integrators for product selection, solution validation, sizing, technical clarifications, demonstrations, workshops and special configurations.
- Lead technical workshops, solution presentations, proof-of-concept discussions and customer demonstrations in coordination with OEM/SI subject matter experts.
- Evaluate competing technologies and map customer requirements to appropriate OEM products without limiting the solution to a single vendor.
- Coordinate end-to-end with network, security, cloud, data center, database, backup and application SMEs where the infrastructure solution has cross-domain dependencies.
- Support commercial teams with technical input, solution differentiation, TCO considerations, licensing/subscription understanding and value propositions.
- Maintain current knowledge of OEM roadmaps, emerging infrastructure technologies, AI/GPU infrastructure, virtualization/container platforms, hybrid cloud and data protection trends.

- High-level and low-level solution architectures and infrastructure diagrams.
- Sizing calculations, BoQ/BoM and technical compliance matrices.
- RFI/RFQ/RFP/tender responses and technical clarifications.
- Customer presentations, workshops, demonstrations and technical proposals.
- OEM/SI technical engagement records, solution validation and recommended configurations.
- PoC plans, technical evaluation criteria and implementation handover documentation.
- Reusable solution templates, reference architectures and technical collateral.

Requirements

What are we looking for and what does it require to be Expert Solutions Engiineering – Infrastructure (Storage, Compute & Virtualization)?

Experience and Educational requirements

- 5–6 years of relevant enterprise presales / solution architecture experience in Compute, Storage and Virtualization.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Networking, Telecom, AI or another relevant technology discipline.
- Hands-on presales experience with multiple OEM technologies across server, storage and virtualization ecosystems; exposure to vendors such as Dell Technologies, HPE, Lenovo, Huawei, IBM, NetApp, Pure Storage, Nutanix, VMware/Broadcom, Microsoft and/or equivalent platforms is desirable.
- Relevant professional certifications from OEMs or recognized technology bodies in server, storage, virtualization, cloud or data center technologies are strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working directly with OEMs, distributors, authorized OEM partners and system integrators.
- Strong experience in enterprise customer engagement, requirement generation, technical discovery, RFI/RFQ/RFP/tender response, solution sizing and pre-sales documentation.
- Experience in customer workshops, technical presentations, solution demonstrations and PoC engagements.
- Understanding of virtualization architectures, hypervisors, clusters, HA/DRS concepts, resource management, virtual networking and integration with storage and compute.
- Understanding of SAN/NAS, FC/iSCSI, storage protocols, performance/capacity planning, replication, snapshots, backup and disaster recovery concepts.
- Ability to understand application workloads, databases, VDI, AI/GPU and business-critical workloads and translate them into infrastructure requirements.
- Strong technical writing, presentation, communication, stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
