Job Posting Summary:
Ensworth is seeking a dynamic and intellectually engaging teacher to join the World Language Department faculty as a Spanish long-term substitute. The ideal candidate will value relationships, collaboration, a love for teaching high school students, and joy in learning. Essential to this position is the ability to align teaching and learning to Ensworth’s Core Skills Framework, a willingness to work as part of a grade-level curricular team, and the capacity to adapt to new technology.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Abides by Ensworth’s Employee Handbook and Code of Conduct.
- Commits to the ideals expressed in Ensworth’s Mission Statement, Vision Statement, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Statement.
- Adheres to the Essential Expectations of an Ensworth Faculty, Staff, or Administrator
- Teaches two sections of Spanish 2, two sections of Spanish 3 Honors, and, if possible, one section of French 3.
- Integrates technology to support curricular aims and help students effectively achieve their goals.
- Provides continual assessment of student progress and communicates academic performance with the support of the World Language Department Chair.
- Serves as an advisor to a small group of students and monitors the health and well-being of each advisee’s academic, social, and personal life at Ensworth.
- Provides student support and supervision both inside and outside the classroom.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Experience teaching in a high school setting preferred
- Highly developed organizational skills
- Well-developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with all constituents in a school environment, including students, co-workers, and parents
- Teamwork, dependability, flexibility, willingness to listen and learn, problem-solving skills, and congeniality are essential
- Must successfully complete background screening and verification
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Regularly works in standard office or classroom conditions and climate, occasionally works outdoors in varying weather conditions and climate
- Regularly uses close and distance vision, Works at a computer screen for extended periods of time, Ability to observe students from various distances comfortably
- Works at a desk for extended periods of time, frequently moves around campus
- Ability to occasionally move items 30 lbs. across the campus
- Effectively deals with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts
- Stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions
