MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

The Medical Records Officer manages the Medical Records / Health Information function at facility level effectively, ensuring compliance with regulatory and organisational requirements relating to the quality, security, confidentiality, integrity and availability of health information, thereby supporting patient safety, service delivery and accurate billing.

The role also contributes to the development, implementation and continuous improvement of health information and client engagement operating models, working collaboratively with facility, centralised and other relevant stakeholders. This includes supporting process standardisation and redesign, implementation of new ways of working, operational coordination, performance monitoring and reporting, and identifying opportunities to improve service quality, efficiency, compliance and client experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

- Manage the quality of medical records and health information

- Ensure adherence to information governance, confidentiality and regulatory requirements

- Ensure compliance with health information documentation requirements

- Manage and develop the Medical Records team t

- Provide health information statistics, reporting and operational insights

- Support service development, process improvement and operational implementation

REQUIRED EDUCATION

First Degree in Health Information Management/Medical Records Management and/or American Health Information Management Association accreditation

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Essential: 3-5 Years in Medical Records Management/Health Information Management

Desired: 1-2 Years in Electronic Health Records Management (focus on electronic health management)
