What We're Looking For:

Michael Baker International is seeking a motivated and innovative Electrical Associate to join our growing New Jersey team, with opportunities to be based out of our Newark or Pennington offices .

As an Electrical Associate, you will play a key role in designing the systems that keep New Jersey moving. From major highway improvements and transit initiatives to aviation, bridge, and smart infrastructure projects, you will support high-impact projects that shape communities across the Garden State. Working alongside electrical, civil, transportation, bridge, rail/transit, and technology specialists, you'll contribute to innovative solutions for clients including state agencies, transit authorities, airports, and municipalities throughout New Jersey and beyond.

This is an exciting opportunity for an emerging engineer who is eager to learn, collaborate, and grow. You'll gain hands-on experience developing electrical, lighting, and telecommunications designs while working on multidisciplinary teams that transform transportation networks and enhance the traveling public's experience.
What You'll Do:
- Support the design and development of electrical systems for transportation and infrastructure projects throughout New Jersey and the Northeast.
- Assist in preparing construction documents, engineering calculations, and design drawings.
- Work with senior engineers to design roadway, bridge, rail, trail, pedestrian, and airport lighting systems.
- Develop electrical layouts, circuiting, equipment sizing, conduit and wiring designs, and supporting calculations.
- Prepare quantity takeoffs and construction cost estimates.
- Utilize industry-leading software such as Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and ProjectWise to deliver high-quality designs.
- Research innovative technologies and engineering solutions that improve safety, mobility, and sustainability.
- Collaborate with engineers, planners, architects, and construction professionals on diverse project teams.
- Support the delivery of projects that improve transportation infrastructure across New Jersey's communities.
What You Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with a focus on electrical power, lighting, or transportation systems.
- 0-5 years of relevant experience.
- EIT certification, or the ability to obtain it within six months, preferred.
- Familiarity with the National Electrical Code.
- Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- A desire to learn, solve complex challenges, and contribute to meaningful infrastructure projects.
Compensation: The approximate compensation range for this position is $72,000 - $88,000 per year. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
