Aurora’s mission is to provide data-driven intelligence to support the global energy transition. We are seeking a Senior Analyst to join our team in Austin, Texas. Opportunities are available across both our Research and Advisory teams, providing exposure to market intelligence development and strategic client engagements. Team placement will be determined based on business needs and candidates’ experience and strengths.

Aurora provides a market-leading suite of services that provide analytics and insights to participants across North American power and renewable energy markets. Our services help clients understand developments across the power market and energy industry, including implications for power assets, policy investment, and strategy across North America.

Based in Austin, Texas, you will lead analytical workstreams, develop market insights, engage directly with clients, and contribute to the continued growth of Aurora’s research capabilities and products. You will play an active role in identifying research questions, developing analytical approaches, and conducting quantitative analysis. You will synthesize findings into clear, actionable recommendations that support client decision-making.

The successful applicant will combine strong quantitative ability, sound commercial judgment, and a proven track record of performance in team-oriented environments.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead quantitative and qualitative research projects, delivering insights that inform strategic decision-making across North American power and renewable energy markets.
- Develop and communicate clear, actionable recommendations by synthesizing complex market, economic, and modeling analyses.
- Partner with clients and internal stakeholders to understand business challenges, define analytical approaches, and deliver high-quality solutions.
- Manage analytical workstreams independently, coordinating across research, modeling, and commercial teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Contribute to Aurora’s growth by enhancing research capabilities and supporting thought leadership and product development initiatives.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Required attributes:
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative, technical, or related field (e.g. Math, Economics, Physics, Engineering, Finance, Environmental Studies)
- 2+ years of professional experience in research, consulting, analytics, economics, energy markets, or a related field
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage analytical projects and deliver high-quality work with limited supervision
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to synthesize complex information and translate findings into actionable recommendations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Passion for the energy transition and interest in power and renewable energy markets
Desirable attributes:
- Experience in North American power markets, renewable energy, utilities, or energy consulting
- Proficiency in SQL, MATLAB, Python, R, or other data analysis tools
- Advanced Excel and data visualization capabilities
- Experience managing client-facing projects or stakeholder relationships
