Supply Chain Planner

Department: Supply Chain

Location: Hayward, CA OR San Carlos, CA

About 1X

We're building humanoid robots that work in any space humans exist with the mission to create an abundance of labor. Simple, but it's not.

To do this right, we have to solve robotics, AI, software, hardware, manufacturing and operations at the same time, at scale, in a form factor that has to be safe. If you're inspired by this, you'll thrive here. We've been at this since 2014 and we're at the point where the hard problems are behind us and the hard work is in front of us.

NEO is our flagship - a general purpose robot designed to move, learn, and operate in the real world alongside real people. We're not demoing it, we're shipping it. We're excited to meet you, if this excites you.

If you've spent your career working on problems that matter and want to see them actually reach the world - this is that moment. We're scaling, we're hiring with intention, and we need people who want to build something that will genuinely change how humans spend their time safely creating abundance for all.

About the Team

Supply Chain makes sure every part NEO needs is in the right place, at the right time, in the right quantity, as 1X moves from building robots to shipping them at scale. We sit at the intersection of engineering, manufacturing, and a fast-growing global supplier base. When we do our job well, the line never stops.

Your Charter

Own the material plan that keeps NEO production running. You will translate the build schedule into a reliable, time-phased supply plan for your commodities so the right parts arrive exactly when they are needed: no shortages stopping the line, and no excess inventory tying up cash as we ramp.

Key Outcomes

- Zero production line-down events caused by material shortages on the commodities you own.
- MRP data you can trust: BOMs, lead times, lot sizes, safety stock, and on-hand balances kept accurate so system recommendations can be acted on without manual rework.
- Inventory health within targets: inventory turns and excess/obsolete exposure held to the targets set with Finance as production volume ramps.
- Improved supplier on-time, in-full delivery, driven by clear forecasts, accurate POs, and timely expedite/de-expedite actions.
- Engineering changes that land on schedule: ECO cut-ins executed with a clear phase-in/phase-out plan and minimal scrap.
- A weekly clear-to-build and shortage view that gives Manufacturing and leadership an accurate picture of what can be built, and when.

Key Competencies

- MRP fluency and systems thinking: understands how BOMs, lead times, lot sizing, and safety stock interact, and can spot when the system is wrong.
- Proactive problem solver: sees shortages weeks out and resolves them before they reach the line.
- Strong analytical skills: builds and maintains planning models in Excel/Sheets and lets data drive decisions.
- Clear, direct communicator: keeps suppliers, buyers, manufacturing, and engineering aligned, and escalates early with options rather than problems.
- Thrives in change: comfortable planning around evolving designs, new suppliers, and a ramping build schedule.
- High ownership and attention to detail: treats the material plan as their own and follows every open item to closure.

Minimum Requirements

- 3-5 years of materials planning, production planning, or supply planning experience in a manufacturing environment (hardware, electronics, automotive, aerospace, or similar).
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Hands-on experience running MRP in an ERP system (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle).
- Advanced Excel / Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, lookups, building planning models).
- Working knowledge of BOM structures, lead-time management, and inventory control fundamentals.

Preferred Skills

- Experience supporting an NPI-to-production ramp at a hardware startup or high-growth company.
- Experience planning electromechanical components such as motors, actuators, PCBAs, batteries, and machined or injection-molded parts.
- APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM or CSCP).
- Experience with global suppliers, including Asia-based supply chains and long-lead components.
- Familiarity with PLM systems (e.g., Arena, Duro) and engineering change processes.
- Exposure to SQL, Python, or BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker) for planning analytics.
