About the Team
The Quality APQP team is responsible for ensuring successful launches of new automotive products from project award through mass production. Working closely with manufacturing, production, suppliers, and customers, the team drives quality planning, risk management, PPAP approvals, and Safe Launch activities. At ZF Chassis Technology, the team supports advanced manufacturing processes including machining, welding, heat treatment, crack detection, and assembly for leading automotive OEMs. Together, we ensure that quality standards, customer requirements, and launch milestones are achieved safely, efficiently, and on time.
What you can look forward to as Quality Engineer APQP
• Lead APQP activities for new product launches and engineering changes, coordinating suppliers, customers, and internal cross-functional teams.
• Manage PPAP submission packages and ensure approvals are completed according to customer and project timing requirements.
• Drive supplier APQP development, risk assessments, readiness reviews, and launch activities to support flawless product launches.
• Coordinate Safe Launch (EPC) implementation, monitor containment actions, and ensure timely closure after SOP.
• Develop and maintain quality planning documentation including Control Plans, Inspection Instructions, Launch Checklists, and related process documentation.
• Utilize digital project management tools such as Cplace/eAPQP to track milestones, deliverables, and project status.
• Collaborate with Project Engineering, Manufacturing, Metrology, Supplier Quality, and Process Quality teams during industrialization and production transfer activities.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives while promoting ZF quality, safety, and operational excellence standards.
Your Profile as Quality Engineer APQP
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in APQP, Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality, Launch Quality, or a similar automotive manufacturing position.
• Strong knowledge of Automotive Core Tools including APQP, PPAP, PFMEA/FMEA, SPC, MSA, Control Plans, and Problem Solving methodologies.
• Experience working within IATF 16949 quality management systems and customer-specific requirements for automotive OEMs.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, heat treatment, assembly, and dimensional validation is highly desirable.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage multiple projects, and communicate effectively with customers and suppliers.
• Advanced English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Availability to travel domestically and internationally as required to support suppliers, customers, and launch activities.
