The Director, Deposits Engineering, leads the Deposits Engineering teams globally (Canada / Bogota / International); ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

• Enable Retail Deposits through innovative solutions that are sustainable, flexible, reliable, and scalable to continually meet the growing global footprint.
• Build strong relationships with business partners, technology partners, stakeholders, 3rd party vendors and their teams, to facilitate collaboration.
• Lead and drive a customer focused culture throughout the team to deepen business partner’s relationships and knowledge.
• Responsible for owning the Retail Deposits Technology strategies and roadmaps
• Take a strategic focus aligned to business priorities and bring innovative thinking to strategic problems
• Lead the implementation of transformative technology initiatives to enable Canadian Banking’s success through increased efficiency, reduced cost, faster time to market
• Identify and prioritize opportunities to leverage platform capabilities effectively, deliver future proof technology solutions and take a leading role in initiatives to drive innovation and digital transformation throughout the Bank.
• Manage and ensure the successful delivery of complex projects/programs involving multiple teams from different groups across the bank, as well as external vendors when required
• Provide finance with the data to support and maintenance budgets and business cases.
• Lead the solution of risks and issues that have a broad impact on projects, systems, and teams (e.g. software currency, vulnerabilities)
• Owns production issue analysis and performs root cause analysis for production issues and implementation issues.
• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
• Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team.

• Strong communication skills with a proven ability to understand key business and technical concepts, and then effectively communicate these concepts with technical staff, business stakeholders and senior management
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to perform under pressure while managing multiple priorities with competing demands for resources and budget
• Strong analytical, finance & accounting, data processing and problem-solving skills
• Experience in a leadership role with application development, technical architecture, data, and delivery focus
• Experience managing operating budgets and multi million dollar project budgets while effectively navigating financial constraints to ensure cost efficiency.
• Strong project management skills, able to multi-task and manage concurrent projects
• Experience with vendor product assessment & selection, vendor management & negotiating contractual terms
• Experience aligning technology delivery and modernization initiatives with broader deposit business and enterprise strategy, ensuring solutions supports long term bank objectives.
• Proven ability to deliver platforms and capabilities and managing solutions through the lifecycle
• Significant experience leading complex solution implementations and team sizes ranging from 50 to 100 resources
• Deep understanding of heterogeneous infrastructure technologies, business drivers, emerging technology trends related to customer information systems – e.g. Legacy Technologies as well as Cloud, API integration, and leading transformational change incorporating modern technologies.
• Subject area experience with Financial Industry products and services preferred: Retail Banking/Lending, Commercial Banking/Lending, Credit Card Processing and Global Payment Processing
• Subject area experience with anti-money laundering & KYC, compliance, and regulatory requirements (such as AML, CASL, OSFI) is an asset
• Experience in transforming a delivery team to adopt Agile principles and operate in an DevOps environment enabling CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery).
Understanding of IT business continuity, cybersecurity, and integrated risk management and optimization methodologies is highly desirable, along with knowledge of IT Business Management.
