About this role

Greenergy delivers safe, efficient and reliable fuel solutions to customers across road, aviation and marine sectors. As an international transportation fuel supplier, we combine traditional and renewable energy solutions to support our customers through the energy transition.

Commitment to innovation and a drive to do things differently have seen Greenergy grow from a bedroom start-up to supply transport fuels in the UK, Ireland and Canada, as well as being a leading European manufacturer of waste-based renewables.

We’re looking for a commercially curious and analytical professional to join our Biofuels Trading team as a Junior Bio Trader .

This is an opportunity to develop your career in a specialist area of the energy market, supporting market analysis, supply and demand assessments, commercial exposure monitoring and the execution of biofuel and sustainability-related transactions.

You should already have relevant professional experience in biofuels, sustainability, energy, commodities, trading, risk, market analysis or another closely related commercial environment. Experience of sustainability markets, compliance obligations or renewable fuels would be particularly valuable. The role is suited to someone who has moved beyond an academic or graduate-level environment and is ready to apply their existing knowledge in a trading setting.

Strong numerical and Excel skills are essential, together with the confidence to work with data, manage competing priorities and build effective relationships across the business.

Based in London, the role may provide opportunities to work internationally with Greenergy or Trafigura as your knowledge and experience develop.

Key Responsibilities

- Support the analysis of biofuel and sustainability markets, including pricing, supply and demand, market drivers and relevant compliance instruments
- Assist with assessing the commercial and operational considerations of physical blending compared with the use of sustainability certificates or compliance tickets
- Support the monitoring of sustainability obligations and related market exposures, escalating issues and opportunities to the wider trading team
- Assist with the execution and administration of physical, paper and certificate-based transactions, working with brokers, counterparties and internal stakeholders
- Maintain accurate records of trades, positions, exposures and profit and loss information, with appropriate guidance from experienced colleagues
- Work with Risk, Operations and Sustainability Compliance to support effective controls, accurate reporting and compliance with relevant requirements
- Develop and maintain an up-to-date understanding of biofuel markets, sustainability regulations and compliance schemes in the UK and Europe
- Contribute to market reports, commercial analysis and other information used to support trading and business decisions
- Build effective working relationships with internal teams and, over time, external brokers and counterparties.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Qualifications and Experience
- A degree in a numerate, commercial or related subject such as economics, finance, mathematics, engineering, science or business
- Some relevant professional experience in commodities, energy, biofuels, trading, risk, market analysis, supply chain or another analytical commercial environment, alongside a strong academic background
- An interest in energy markets, biofuels, sustainability and the factors that influence commodity prices
- Experience of analysing data and drawing clear conclusions from market or commercial information
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to organise, analyse and interpret data using formulas, lookups and pivot tables
Skills and Attributes
- Numerate, analytical and commercially curious, with the ability to investigate information and identify what matters
- Driven and ambitious, with the initiative to take ownership of their work, act on feedback and build a career in biofuels trading
- Organised and accurate, with a careful approach to data, transactions and record keeping
- A clear and confident communicator who can build effective relationships with a range of stakeholders
- Able to manage competing priorities in a fast-moving environment and respond positively to changing market conditions
- Comfortable using AI-enabled tools responsibly to support research, analysis and efficiency, with the judgement to validate outputs and protect confidential information
- High levels of integrity and discretion when handling commercially sensitive information
- Flexible and willing to travel internationally, with openness to relocation as part of future development opportunities.
Development Opportunity This role is intended to provide a strong foundation for a career in biofuels and commodity trading.
