About this role

About the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy

The Lincoln Institute of Land Policy seeks to improve quality of life through the effective use, taxation, and stewardship of land. A nonprofit, private operating foundation whose origins date to 1946, the Lincoln Institute researches and recommends creative, nonpartisan approaches to land as a solution to economic, social, and environmental challenges. Through education, training, publications, and events, we integrate theory and practice to inform public policy decisions worldwide. We organize our work around three impact areas: land and water; land and fiscal systems; and land and communities. We envision a world where cities and regions prosper and benefit from coordinated land use planning and public finance; where communities thrive from efficient and equitable allocation of limited land resources; and where stewardship of land and water resources ensures a livable future. We work globally, with locations in Cambridge, Massachusetts; Washington, DC; Phoenix, Arizona; and Beijing, China.

Remaking Local Economies (RLE) Team Overview

The Remaking Local Economies (RLE) team at the Lincoln Institute seeks to use land policy to improve well-being for communities, with an emphasis on improving outcomes and quality of life for vulnerable people and places. RLE focuses particularly on communities in legacy cities, which we define as places that have experienced population and economic decline. RLEs projects and programs explore and develop ways land policy can be structured to contribute to community well-being by improving access to opportunities in areas, such as housing, employment, greening, and economic growth. We advance this work through research and community partnerships that bridge policy and practice and develop place-based solutions to boost community and economic revitalization and solve well-being challenges. The RLE team works closely with partners and stakeholders from a wide range of backgrounds and prioritizes a comparable level of team diversity. We believe that our team and our work are strongest when they reflect a range of perspectives.
