We're looking for a talented Senior Linux Engineer to join our team supporting a complex government client in Columbia, SC . If that's you, get ready to bring your expertise in engineering, administration, modernization, and operational support. You will provide expert-level support for the organization's Linux-based infrastructure, ensuring secure, stable, and compliant systems that support mission-critical applications.
Work Location:
Hybrid – A mix of onsite and remote work.
Clearance:
Must be US citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust security clearance.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
- Strengthen the organizations Linux server environment through proactive engineering, hardening, lifecycle management, and modernization.
- Improve system reliability, security, monitoring, configuration management, and automation.
- Support the organizations cloud adoption, cybersecurity posture, and enterprise architecture objectives.
- Provide Tier 3 engineering support, including troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and optimization.
- Architect, deploy, configure, and maintain Linux servers (Red Hat Enterprise Linux preferred) across on premise and cloud environments.
- Implement secure baseline configurations aligned with DOJ, NIST, and federal cybersecurity standards.
- Manage OS patching, kernel dependences, and system performance tuning.
- Support enterprise application hosting, web services, databases, and middleware running on Linux platforms.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash, Python, or similar tools.
- Implement Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using tools like Ansible, Terraform, or similar.
- Assist with migration, deployment, and administration of Linux workloads in cloud environments (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government).

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
- 8–10+ years of Linux engineering experience in enterprise or federal environments.
- Advanced experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7/8/9).
- Strong proficiency with Bash scripting and at least one modern scripting or programming language (Python preferred).
- Hands-on experience with Ansible and Infrastructure-as-Code.
- Knowledge of virtualization (VMware), containers, and cloud computing.
- Experience supporting security compliance under federal frameworks (FISMA, NIST 800 53, STIGs).
- System health and performance reports.
- Security compliance documentation, patching summaries, and vulnerability remediation status.
- Updated architecture diagrams and configuration baselines.
- Automation scripts, IaC modules, and associated documentation.
- Migration plans, change management packages, and incident reports.

Salary Range
$120,000-$135,000
The posted salary range represents the anticipated compensation for this position. Final compensation will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications, years of directly relevant experience, education, certifications, security clearance, contract requirements, and other business considerations.
