About this role

Position Overview

The Manager of Fixture Design is responsible for designing and implementing all new fixture programs for Burlington stores. These programs include new fixture development and existing fixture improvement. Critical to this role is the ability to understand the needs of the business and work with internal and external partners to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery of flexible, functional fixtures that pass all safety criteria.

A Day in the Life

Scope and Impact:

This position impacts both new and existing stores.  It is crucial in helping to expedite Burlington’s rapid store growth and maintain the current store fleet.

- Ensuring fixture packages are designed, planned, delivered and executed accurately and on time.
- Continuously refining the fixture package to minimize waste, improve durability, and reduce FFE cost.
- Stores fixturing and material specifications delivers the Burlington brand experience cost effectively.
- Fixtures safely and efficiently support the customers “treasure hunt” and operational need of ease of use and flexibility.

Design, Planning & Collaboration

- Develop and plan fixtures and displays for the needs of Burlington stores.
- Focus on creating appealing, functional, flexible and safe fixture programs that meet the needs of the business.
- Work with Merchant teams and Merchandise Presentation partners to understand the business requirements for the fixture programs.
- Work with Store Planning to ensure fixtures fit into the store model.
- Work with Store Operations to ensure fixtures are easily used by store personnel.
- Work with internal partners to secure funding for capital investment on fixture programs.
- Present fixture concepts, design recommendations, and business cases to executives and key stakeholders
- Create fixture concepts using 3D modeling and rendering software (SketchUp preferred).
- Develop and maintain fixture design standards, best practices, and SOPs to ensure consistent execution

Vendor Management

- Parter with vendors to execute designs.
- Manage projects and timelines to ensure timely delivery.
- Manage fixture prototype development, testing, refinement, and production readiness to ensure execution excellence.
- Partner in the RFP processes, vendor evaluations, and pricing negotiations
- Manage relationships with external design firms, fixture manufacturers, and suppliers.
- Drive continuous improvement with vendor partners to improve quality, cost, and lead times

Project Management

- Develop and manage project timelines from design process through delivery.
- Track expenses and prototype costs.
- Ensure projects stay on schedule and on budget.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities and deadlines.
- Utilize project management tools and reporting to track milestones, risks, and deliverables.
- Document lessons learned and implement process improvements.

Financial Management

- Develop and manage project budgets and execute projects to ensure budgets are met
- Manage change order process to minimize change orders
- Provide monthly budget and forecast updates to department Vice President and Finance partners

- Collaborate with department Directors, department Vice President, and partners in FP&A to update monthly budgets and forecasts

- Evaluate fixture programs for value engineering, lifecycle costs, and operational efficiency.

- Analyze prototype, production, and implementation costs to identify savings opportunities.

Industry Research

- Learn and understand the Burlington fleet to ensure fixture programs are suited to work in all generations of Burlington prototype stores.
- Stay up to date on industry trends and best practices in retail design focused on the value segment.
- Research emerging fixture materials, manufacturing technologies, and retail design trends.

You'll Come With

Education:   BA/BS in Design, related field or significant relevant experience

Experience: 2-5 + years of fixture design, retail design, architectural design, or related experience. 2-3 years in a managerial role preferred, strong retail background

Skills and Abilities:

- Strong strategic thinking, leadership, collaboration, and project management skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Experience with Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Monday.com, or similar project management software.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling and design software, preferably SketchUp; AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, or similar platforms.
- Strong design visualization, 3D modeling, rendering, and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate fixture concept.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to develop practical, cost-effective solutions.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, budgets, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Ability to develop and improve processes, standards, and fixture design best practices.
- Experience managing projects through concept development, prototyping, testing, production, and implementation.
- Desire to learn all aspects of Burlington's retail business and evolving store formats

Compensation Range: $80,000.00 - $105,000.00
