We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Developer with a strong background in Automotive Cybersecurity to support the development of Instrument Cluster and Head-Up Display (HUD) products. The ideal candidate combines strong Embedded C/C++ development skills with hands-on experience implementing security mechanisms in automotive ECUs, preferably within Instrument Cluster, Digital Cockpit, HUD, Infotainment, or similar embedded products.
Please note that this opportunity is available exclusively on a freelance/contractor basis (B2B engagement). We are currently not considering permanent employment applications for this role.
What you'll be doing
- Develop and integrate security-related software components for Instrument Cluster / HUD ECUs.
- Implement automotive cybersecurity mechanisms, including:
Secure Boot / Chain of Trust
- Secure Flashing and Software Update
- Cryptographic services and key management
- Authentication and secure communication
- Secure diagnostics
- Secure storage
- Develop and integrate security functionality within AUTOSAR Classic environments.
- Work with AUTOSAR security-related modules such as Crypto Stack, CSM, Crypto Interface, SecOC and Key Management.
- Integrate and configure HSM / hardware-based security functionality.
- Develop embedded software in C/C++ and perform low-level debugging and troubleshooting.
- Support security implementation across vehicle communication interfaces such as CAN/CAN-FD and Automotive Ethernet.
- Analyze cybersecurity requirements and translate them into software requirements and implementations.
- Support integration, testing, debugging, code reviews, and root-cause analysis.
- Collaborate closely with Software Architects, Cybersecurity Engineers, BSW Developers, System Engineers and Integration/Test teams.
- Ensure implementation follows ASPICE, ISO/SAE 21434, and relevant OEM cybersecurity requirements.
What you'll bring along
- 5+ years of experience in automotive embedded software development.
- Strong programming skills in Embedded C/C++.
- Hands-on experience implementing automotive cybersecurity functionality.
- Good knowledge of AUTOSAR Classic a
- Experience with automotive security concepts such as Secure Boot, Secure Flashing, HSM, cryptography, authentication and key management.
- Knowledge of AUTOSAR Crypto Stack / CSM / SecOC or equivalent security frameworks.
- Good understanding of automotive communication protocols: CAN, CAN-FD, UDS, Ethernet, SOME/IP.
- Experience with embedded debugging and development tools such as Lauterbach, CANoe/CANalyzer, debuggers and static analysis tools.
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, Jira/Confluence and requirements management tools.
- Understanding of ISO/SAE 21434 and ASPICE development processes.
- Previous experience with Instrument Cluster, Head-Up Display, Digital Cockpit or Infotainment products
- Hands-on experience with HSM integration and configuration
- Experience with SHE/HSM APIs, PKI, certificates, symmetric/asymmetric cryptography and digital signatures.
