Position
Jung von Matt HAVEL is looking for a Director Social Media (d/f/m).
As our ideal Social Media Director (d/f/m), you have extensive experience in social media, digital or social strategy within the agency world and a deep understanding of platforms, communities, content and culture.
You will lead and develop our Social Media Managers, provide strategic direction across projects and ensure high standards in social planning, community management, reporting and optimization. You enable the team to take end-to-end ownership of their projects while creating clear structures, responsibilities and ways of working.
You are deeply immersed in social culture and always have your finger on the pulse of what is happening across platforms, communities and the wider digital landscape. You identify emerging trends, formats and behaviors early, understand which of them matter for brands and actively bring this knowledge into the agency, our creative work and client conversations.
Working closely with our Creative Director and Client Service Director, you are the key social media sparring partner for strategy, planning and social-first thinking. You support our creative teams with platform expertise, cultural insights and editorial guidance to make our communication more relevant and effective.
Your tasks:
- Lead, mentor and develop our Social Media Managers and establish clear standards, responsibilities and ways of working
- Enable Social Media Managers to take end-to-end ownership of their projects across planning, publishing, community management, reporting and optimization
- Develop social media, channel and content strategies for campaigns and always-on communication
- Translate client and communication objectives into actionable social approaches, channel roles and editorial planning
- Act as our internal social and cultural radar, identifying relevant trends, emerging behaviors, platforms and formats early and translating them into concrete opportunities for our clients and creative work
- Take overarching responsibility for our Community Management approach, including standards, processes and escalation mechanisms
- Develop KPI frameworks and reporting standards and turn performance and community insights into actionable recommendations
- Support the Creative Director and creative teams with social-first thinking, platform expertise and cultural insights
- Support the development of editorial plans, recurring formats and platform-native content ideas
- Act as a senior social media expert in client conversations and confidently present strategies, trends, learnings and recommendations
What you score with:
- 8+ years of experience in social media, social strategy, digital strategy or a comparable role, ideally within an agency environment
- Experience leading, mentoring or professionally guiding Social Media Managers or interdisciplinary teams
- Deep understanding of social platforms, communities, creators, formats and their constantly changing dynamics
- Strong strategic and analytical mindset with the ability to turn cultural, community and performance insights into actionable strategies
- A genuine passion for social media and digital culture, with the curiosity and instinct to identify relevant trends and opportunities early
- Strong understanding of creative work and the ability to act as a constructive sparring partner for creative teams
- Solid experience with Community Management, KPI frameworks, reporting and performance-driven optimization
- Strong communicator – clear, persuasive and confident with clients and teams
- Naturally proactive, collaborative and comfortable taking ownership
- Strong automotive background and a solid understanding of the industry's communication and social media landscape
- Fluent in German and English
