Description
The Welder I carries out processes according to standard welding procedures. Welds out assembled structural forms such as machinery frames, tanks and pressure vessels. Work is closely supervised and follows routine standard processes.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
May include, but are not limited to:
- Sets up equipment and welds parts using shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), and gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW).
- Reads blueprints to ensure accuracy of finished parts.
- Must be able to perform and pass welding certification tests.
- Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding.
- Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together.
- Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding.
- Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
- Resolves welding needs and issues by applying expertise and industry knowledge (to include usage of welding codes).
- Other duties as requested or required
Minimum Qualifications
- Possess a welding certification or degree in welding; or a minimum of one (1) year welding experience
- Must be 18 years of age, or will be 18 at the time of hire
- Demonstrate the ability to accurately complete all work-related documents
- Understand basic operating principles for all plant machinery
- Fluency in English (read, write, comprehend)
- Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions and deal with problems
- Must have mechanical aptitude
- Observe safety and security procedures
Top Candidates will also have
- Experience with MIG and TIG welding
- Ability to read blueprints
- Ability to work overtime to support production demands
Starting pay range : $20.03 – 27.04 (additional 7% shift differential for second shift)
