Purpose of the job

The Financial Accountant will take responsibility for processing journal entries and compile reconciliations across the many Collinson Group entities. Ensuring correct records are maintained and ensure financial transactions are completed in line with the reporting standards of the company.

Key Responsibilities

•

Prepare and post approved journal entries, based on journal policies to record various financial transactions in accordance with the established operating procedures.

Maintain a master list of monthly journal entries.

•

Record supporting information for all journal entries

•

Ensure that reversing entries occur and supporting information is recorded for all journal entries

•

Create recurring journal entry templates and ensure that recurring entries are changed or terminated at appropriate trigger points

•

Ensure that accruals and deferrals are recorded and adjusted appropriately so that revenues and expenses are recognised in the appropriate accounting periods

•

Prepare and distribute financial management reports as required by the business

Prepare month-end balance sheet reconciliations

•

Run procedures to close general ledger and subledgers as part of the period end process

•

Provide audit support specific to general accounting

•

Overseeing the day-to-day activities and supporting training of Assistant Financial Accountants and Financial Assistants

•

Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders Knowledge, skills and experience required

•

5+ years of financial accounting experience post articles completion

•

Secondary education qualifications

•

In progress of registering with a Professional Accounting Qualification (e.g., ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or higher education within an Accounting or Finance degree

•

MS Office competency (Outlook / Teams and Excel)

•

Proficiency in using financial reporting tools and software (e.g. Excel, ERP systems)

•

Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders

•

Knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and industry best practices

•

Ability to work independently and in a team with strong organisational skills, managing multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.

•

Detail-oriented with a focus on data accuracy and quality

•

Challenging, identifying or solving process weakness and change mindset.

•

The candidate must be prepared to learn new processes / systems.

Preferred:

•

Experience operating in a multi-currency or multi country environment.
