Position Overview:
The HR Operations Specialist is responsible for providing human resources consultation and support to assigned business units, partnering closely with operational leaders to align people strategies with business objectives. Reporting to the Director of HR, this role manages the full employee lifecycle from hire to retire, provides guidance on employee relations and compliance matters, supports talent acquisition and onboarding, and helps drive organizational effectiveness, employee engagement, and change management initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):
- Serve as the primary HR resource for assigned business units, providing guidance on employee relations, policies, procedures, collective agreements, and employment-related matters.
- Manage employee lifecycle activities including staffing approvals, offer letters, employment contracts, onboarding, offboarding, and employment record maintenance.
- Lead recruitment activities including requisition management, candidate screening, interviews, community outreach, career fairs, and onboarding initiatives.
- Partner with operational leaders to implement people strategies, workforce planning initiatives, employee development programs, and performance management processes.
- Support compensation and benefits administration in collaboration with Corporate Payroll and Benefits teams.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, employment legislation, drug and alcohol programs, and other regulatory requirements.
- Conduct, document, and support workplace investigations, conflict resolution efforts, coaching discussions, leaves of absence, and accommodation processes.
- Maintain accurate workforce data within HR systems, support change management initiatives, employee engagement programs, recruiting communications, and special projects.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Demonstrated knowledge of human resources principles, employee/labour relations practices, employment legislation, and HR compliance requirements.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders, build strong working relationships, and operate effectively within a fast-paced, matrixed organization.
- Strong recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and workforce planning experience.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences.
- Excellent organizational, time management, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities.
- Sound judgment, professionalism, discretion, and the ability to manage confidential employee information.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Knowledge of employment and labour laws; CPHR or SHRM designation is considered an asset. Bi-lingual capability may be required in some locations.

- Must successfully complete pre-employment background screening and meet airport security requirements for access to secure areas.
