## Job Summary:
The Reality Capture Specialist (RCS) reports to the Construction Automation Lead or the Project Innovation and Information Manager (PIIM) and is responsible for supporting the execution of Remote Field Services through reliable field data capture, visualisation support, and digital construction workflows. The role manages the day-to-day use of reality capture hardware, software, and related processes so that field conditions are captured, organised, and made available to project teams, remote specialists, and construction leadership.
The RCS works closely with the Project Field Engineer (PFE), survey, construction automation, and the project RFS team to support seamless visualisation of the jobsite, improve access to field information, and enable remote review, planning, verification, and issue resolution. The position offers the opportunity to develop broad construction knowledge across multiple disciplines while applying emerging technology in an active project environment, and it requires a proactive, detail-oriented individual with strong digital aptitude, practical field awareness, and the ability to support innovation, technology adoption, and continuous improvement across project execution. #LI-SM2
## Major Responsibilities:
### Field Data Capture
- Execute daily and weekly scheduled reality capture walks in accordance with the project capture plan, construction sequence, and priority work areas.
- Perform ad hoc scans, photo captures, video walkthroughs, and field data collection to support emergent project needs, technical reviews, progress validation, and issue resolution.
- Operate and maintain approved reality capture hardware, including 360-degree cameras, LiDAR-enabled devices, laser scanning equipment, tablets, smart devices, and other project-approved capture tools.
- Maintain awareness of active construction conditions and perform site visits safely while navigating work areas, access routes, stairs, uneven terrain, and other typical jobsite environments.
Data Management, Visualisation and Model Integration
- Support configuration, setup, and day-to-day administration of the reality capture and visualisation software used to process, organise, review, and share field data.
- Manage data uploads, file organisation, naming conventions, metadata, and access requirements to maintain a structured and reliable repository for visualisation, remote inspections, and project records.
- Coordinate with survey and project controls to support georeferencing, control point use, scan alignment, accuracy expectations, and appropriate use of capture data.
- Support 3D model, BIM, and as-built workflows by coordinating captured field conditions with project visualisation platforms and model-based review processes.
- Assist the project team in validating installed conditions, identifying potential discrepancies, and providing visual context for field engineering, construction automation, and remote support teams.
- Support advanced visualisation workflows that combine reality capture data with BIM, 3D models, progress tracking tools, and digital delivery platforms.
## Additional Major Responsibilities
### Remote Expert and Onsite Technology Support
- Facilitate Remote Expert video calls and onsite technology support by assisting field personnel with devices, connectivity, capture setup, meeting launch, and documentation requirements.
- Provide onsite support for Remote Expert users, including tablets, smart glasses, push-to-talk devices, camera systems, and other approved information and communication technology.
- Coordinate with discipline field engineers and remote specialists to prioritise scan zones, walkthrough routes, capture frequency, and data needs for construction execution.
Adoption, Training and Compliance
- Assist with training and onboarding project personnel in the proper use of reality capture tools, visualisation platforms, and remote support workflows.
- Document lessons learned, recurring issues, capture constraints, and workflow improvement opportunities to support broader RFS adoption.
- Support compliance with project safety, security, data management, and document retention requirements associated with digital capture and remote support activities.
## Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience.
- Relevant experience in construction, field engineering support, survey support, BIM coordination, construction technology, digital delivery, or reality capture workflows.
- Experience in active construction environments, with an understanding of field execution, work packaging, progress verification, and construction documentation, is preferred.
- Experience using or supporting digital construction tools, mobile devices, cloud-based platforms, 3D model viewers, visualisation software, or field data capture systems.
- Interest in multi-discipline construction execution, emerging technologies, and the practical application of innovation in the field.
## Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong aptitude for technology, mobile devices, software applications, and digital workflows used in construction environments.
- Ability to learn, configure, and support reality capture hardware and visualisation software with limited supervision.
- Working knowledge of BIM, 3D models, point clouds, 360-degree imagery, photogrammetry, laser scanning, LiDAR, or related visualisation methods.
- Ability to organise large volumes of field data and maintain consistent file structures, naming conventions, and data quality practices.
- Strong coordination skills, with the ability to work across field engineering, survey, construction automation, IS&T, and remote support teams.
- Ability to communicate clearly with field personnel, remote specialists, and project leadership regarding capture needs, data availability, technology issues, and workflow expectations.
- Problem-solving mindset, with the ability to troubleshoot device, software, connectivity, upload, and data access issues in a field environment.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise daily work, and respond to changing project needs while maintaining safety and data quality.
- Willingness and physical capability to perform routine jobsite walks, access active construction areas, and navigate typical construction conditions in accordance with project safety requirements.
