Hiring for an Engineering Aid in East Hartford!

Job Description We are seeking a detail-oriented Engineering Aide to support daily operations within the Ultraviolet/Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI) laboratory. The department is a collaborative team of scientists, engineers, and technicians responsible for evaluating aerospace engine components through advanced inspection methods to ensure product quality, reliability, and safety. This role aligns with internal support functions focused on part tracking, logistics coordination, inspection support, documentation, and inventory management. Responsibilities

- Receive, organize, and track incoming aerospace engine components arriving for inspection from internal facilities and customers.
- Use Air tags and internal tracking systems to monitor part location, movement, and status throughout the NDE process.
- Photograph components and maintain detailed electronic records to support traceability and inspection documentation.
- Coordinate closely with engineers, scientists, and technicians to determine the next destination of parts following inspection.
- Manage inventory and storage locations for components awaiting inspection, shipment, or long-term retention.
- Prepare components and associated documentation for domestic shipment to internal and external locations.
- Support laboratory logistics by monitoring incoming and outgoing material flow.
- Maintain accurate Excel spreadsheets, databases, and tracking logs.
- Assist with documentation, record retention, and audit readiness activities.
- Communicate status updates to engineering personnel and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Ensure parts are properly identified, stored, handled, and packaged in accordance with departmental procedures.
- Help maintain an organized and efficient laboratory environment.

Essential Skills

- Experience supporting engineering, laboratory, quality, manufacturing, or aerospace organizations.
- Experience with inventory control, material movement, receiving, shipping, or logistics coordination.
- Familiarity with SAP, ERP systems, or material tracking software.
- Experience handling technical documentation and controlled records.
- Understanding of aerospace manufacturing or quality environments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel for maintaining spreadsheets and tracking logs.
- Experience in engineering administration and data entry.

Work Environment The role is based in a lab and desk setting within an aerospace company. The environment is business casual and involves both technical and administrative tasks. This is an ideal position for someone who enjoys working in a technical environment, is highly organized, and takes pride in accuracy and ownership of critical operational processes.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of East Hartford, CT.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
