About this role

Small businesses fuel the global economy. In the US alone, they employ 60% of the workforce and create 80% of new jobs. Yet the odds are stacked against them: one in two fails within five years, and most of those failures come down to cash flow — balancing inflows and outflows, chasing late customer payments, funding growth, and making payroll, all while hoping there's enough left over for profit or a rainy day.

At QuickBooks, we aren't just building software. We're trying to increase the survival rate of entrepreneurship globally, and we're building the operating system that lets businesses get paid faster, access capital, and manage their own financial destiny.

QuickBooks Capital is looking for a Senior Staff Product Designer to own the end-to-end experience of our lending products — term loans, lines of credit, and the access points that surface them across QuickBooks. The ambition is bigger than a loan application. It's a business asking 'can I cover this bill?' and QuickBooks answering: pay it now with your line of credit, repay it from next week's invoice, and come out ahead on late fees. Credit as a decision the product helps make, not a product the customer has to go find.

At Intuit, we're intentionally building AI into how we design, prototype, and ship — and we're committed to equipping our teams to work at the forefront of it. We look for designers who are excited to bring AI into their workflow — using it to move faster, explore further, and save their energy for the decisions that only human judgment and creativity can make. We're looking for designers who are curious, eager to experiment, and excited to continually evolve how they work.

QuickBooks Capital is looking for a Senior Staff Product Designer to own the end-to-end experience of our lending products — term loans, lines of credit, marketplace, revenue-based financing, and the new products we're building — along with the access points that surface them across QuickBooks. The ambition is bigger than a loan application. It's a business asking 'can I cover this bill?' and QuickBooks answering: pay it now with your line of credit, repay it from next week's invoice, and come out ahead on late fees. Credit as a decision the product helps make, not a product the customer has to go find. Getting there means designing across invoices, payroll, banking, and cash flow — and having a real say in where capital appears and where it shouldn't.

This is a data and experiment driven team. Most of what we ship is tested, and the work moves quickly. We want a designer who is comfortable reading experiment results and funnel data, who can make a call before the numbers are conclusive, and who pushes for research when the data can't answer the question.

At Intuit, we're intentionally building AI into how we define, build, and ship products — and we're committed to equipping our teams to work at the forefront of it. This role works both sides of that. You'll use AI in your own practice to prototype faster and go deeper on customer insight. You'll also design AI-native lending experiences, including agent-driven surfaces and recommendations inside Intuit Assist, where the customer needs to understand why they're being shown an offer before they'll act on it. We look for designers excited to bring AI into their craft: using it to prototype faster, go deeper on customer insight, and spend their energy on the judgment calls only a person can make.

Responsibilities

Own the experience end to end

- Own the design of a lending product area from problem framing through launch and iteration — across term loans, lines of credit, marketplace, revenue-based financing, and new lending products, plus the access points that surface them across QuickBooks.
- Define how credit appears inside existing workflows — invoices, payroll, banking, cash flow — so offers arrive at the moment of need rather than in a tab nobody visits.
- Hold the bar on craft for your area: clarity, simplicity, and language a customer actually understands.

Design with data

- Partner with product and data science to shape experiments, not just design the variants — bring a hypothesis and a view on what a given result would actually mean.
- Read activation, application, approval, and drop-off data fluently, and use it to decide what to build next.
- Know what a test can prove and what it can't, and when qualitative research is the faster path to an answer.
- Work across the system
- Partner across product teams so lending products complement each other rather than compete for the same moment of customer attention.
- Advance the patterns and design system for lending so the team can ship consistently at speed.

Influence and craft leadership

- Articulate design rationale to product and engineering partners, and bring a clear recommendation rather than a menu of options.
- Mentor senior and mid-level designers, and raise the quality bar through critique and shared standards.
- Use AI in your own workflow to prototype, explore, and pressure-test ideas — and bring a clear point of view on where AI genuinely helps the customer versus where it introduces risk in a regulated lending context.
- Design experiences that make AI-powered features intuitive, transparent, and trustworthy for a diverse range of use

Qualifications

- 7–10 years of product design experience, preferably on large-scale consumer or small business products. Experience with lending, payments, or other financial services is a plus.
- Proven track record of owning a product area end to end, from problem framing through launch and iteration.
- Strong interaction and visual design craft, and fluency with design systems.
- Exceptional ability to analyze and synthesize quantitative and qualitative data to inform design decisions, identify opportunities, and measure outcomes.
- Experience designing for experimentation — shaping tests, interpreting results, and iterating on what you learn.
- Ability to convey ideas through storyboarding, wireframing, and prototyping, and to bring stakeholders along with a clear narrative.
- A portfolio demonstrating user-centered design principles and mastery of craft.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with and influence Design, Product Management, and Engineering partners.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools into your design workflow to improve quality, speed, depth or exploration.
