Engineering Intern 2027
Location: Various onsite locations throughout U.S. (NOT Home Based)

Situation in organization
The Intern will work in a chemical manufacturing plant with a supervisor who will provide regular assessments and feedback.
Job dimensions
The Intern will gain hands-on experience in chemical manufacturing operations and processes. The intern will participate in multi-disciplinary projects focused on their field of study and industry best practices, supporting ongoing initiatives and contributing to the development and implementation of new processes and technologies. Throughout the internship, the student will have opportunities to develop an understanding of P&IDs, perform engineering calculations, collaborate with multiple departments, and gain exposure to a strong safety culture. At the conclusion of the internship, the student will present their project work and key learnings to site leadership.
Key Activities and responsibilities
- Participate in process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and quality. (15%)
- Collaborate with production, maintenance, and safety teams to resolve technical issues and improve plant operations. (15%)
- Conduct research and analysis to evaluate new technologies and process improvements. (15%)
- Prepare reports and presentations on projects and process improvements. (15%)
- Assist engineering teams with project related needs. (15%)
- Understand, support, and comply with all plant safety policies and procedures. (15%)
- Other duties in support of manufacturing operations and processes as well as taking advantage of opportunities to enhance learning in field of engineering and professional development. (10%)
Context and environment
- Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements.
- Follows all safety practices while working in the manufacturing setting, including wearing proper PPE
- Asks questions about the process and has an open and willingness to learn
- Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, etc.)
- Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident, or injury incidents.
- Understands and supports all of Arkema’s HESQ commitments both at a corporate and facility level. (e.g., Responsible Care, HES2Q Commitment, Corporate HES Policy)
Required Education/Qualifications /Work experience
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- Successfully completed at least 2 years of degree program
- Strong preference for 3.0 GPA or above
